Through secure data, trusted networks, partnerships, and innovation, we help individuals, businesses, financial institutions, and governments realise their greatest potential.

Technology at Mastercard
Technology is at the heart of everything we do. What we build today shapes the future of global commerce—making it more connected, inclusive, secure, and resilient. We operate at massive global scale and are looking for leaders who thrive in complex environments, care deeply about engineering excellence, and can translate business objectives into reliable, high quality platforms and user experiences.
________________________________________
About the Role
We are hiring two Senior Web Developers (Full Stack) to help design, build, and operate modern, secure, and scalable web applications. You will be a hands-on engineer working closely with the Lead, Product, UX, QA, and DevOps/SRE to deliver customer-facing and internal platforms with high standards for performance, reliability, accessibility, and maintainability.
Key Responsibilities
• Deliver end-to-end features across the stack using Java (Spring Boot) and/or Python (Django/DRF) on the backend and React/Next.js with TypeScript on the frontend.
• Design and implement well-structured, well-tested backend services, including business logic, integrations, data access layers, and API endpoints.
• Build responsive, accessible UI components and pages; apply modern UI patterns, state management (e.g., Redux), and performance best practices.
• Design and consume RESTful APIs with strong contracts (versioning, backward compatibility, error handling) and clear documentation.
• Write automated tests (unit/integration and UI where applicable) and contribute to quality gates in CI/CD to prevent regressions.
• Troubleshoot production issues using logs/metrics/traces; participate in on-call or support rotations as needed, and contribute to runbooks and operational readiness.
• Apply secure coding practices: input validation, authN/authZ checks, dependency hygiene, secrets management, and proactive vulnerability remediation.
• Contribute to engineering excellence: code reviews, refactoring, reducing technical debt, improving developer experience, and sharing reusable components/patterns.
• Work collaboratively with Product/UX to clarify requirements, estimate work, manage trade-offs, and deliver iteratively.
• Mentor junior engineers through pairing, reviews, and knowledge sharing; promote team standards and best practices.
Required Skills & Technical Proficiency
Backend & APIs
• Strong hands-on experience in Java + Spring Boot (preferred) and/or Python + Django/DRF.
• Strong knowledge of REST API design, authentication/authorisation patterns, and integration with external services.
• Experience with SQL and relational databases; ability to design schemas and optimise queries.
• Familiarity with caching strategies and performance tuning (application and database layers).
Frontend
• Strong experience building web UIs with React and/or Next.js; strong JavaScript and TypeScript.
• Proficiency in HTML/CSS, responsive design, and cross-browser compatibility.
• Experience with state management (e.g., Redux) and component-driven development.
• Hands-on accessibility experience (semantic HTML, ARIA, keyboard navigation) aligned to WCAG 2.1.
DevOps / Cloud / Engineering Practices
• Strong Git usage, branching strategies, and disciplined peer-review practices.
• Experience with CI/CD systems (e.g., Jenkins) and automated testing in pipelines.
• Working knowledge of containers (Docker) and orchestration (Kubernetes).
• Hands-on exposure to Azure and/or AWS fundamentals (deployments, configuration, monitoring).
• Familiarity with observability (logging, metrics, tracing) and production support practices.
Gen-AI / AI-Assisted Engineering (Preferred)
• Use AI-assisted tooling responsibly to accelerate delivery (scaffolding, refactoring) with strong human review and engineering judgment.
• Leverage AI to improve test coverage and identify edge cases, while maintaining code quality and security standards.
Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent practical experience.
• 5+ years of professional software engineering experience with substantial web application delivery ownership.
• Proven track record shipping features in a team environment (Agile/Scrum/Kanban) with strong collaboration and communication.
Preferred Qualifications
• Experience with microservices, API governance/versioning strategies, and distributed system fundamentals.
• Experience with security best practices (OWASP Top 10), SAST/DAST concepts, and vulnerability management workflows.
• Experience improving performance (profiling, caching, query tuning, frontend rendering optimisation).
• Exposure to payments/financial services or other regulated domains is a plus.
What Success Looks Like
• You deliver features predictably with high quality, including tests, documentation, and operational readiness.
• You proactively identify and fix reliability/performance issues and reduce tech debt without compromising delivery.
• You raise the bar for secure coding, accessibility, and maintainable design through reviews and strong engineering habits.
• You collaborate effectively across functions and help the team move faster through mentorship and knowledge sharing.
