Blue Yonder is building next-generation AI-powered retail solutions that leverage Computer Vision, Image Processing, OCR, and Vision-Language Models (VLMs) to automate shelf image recognition and generate actionable business insights.


As a Senior Software Engineer – Computer Vision Expert, the individual will build scalable backend services and AI integration layers that enable end-to-end workflows for image ingestion, image decomposition, object recognition, and automated planogram generation. The role will work closely with AI researchers, product teams, and global engineering teams to productionize machine learning models into enterprise-grade applications.

What You'll Do


  • Design and develop scalable microservices for Computer Vision and AI-powered image processing.
  • Build image ingestion, preprocessing, and recognition pipelines for retail shelf images.
  • Integrate OCR, Vision-Language Models (VLMs), and AI models into backend workflows.
  • Develop REST APIs using Python (FastAPI/Flask).
  • Productionize machine learning models and collaborate with AI teams to deploy them into enterprise applications.
  • Leverage LLMs for business rule translation, scenario simulation, and workflow automation.
  • Design scalable data models and optimize SQL queries for large retail datasets.
  • Identify and resolve performance, scalability, and security challenges.
  • Build reliable, secure, and cloud-native backend services following engineering best practices.
  • Collaborate with global cross-functional teams to deliver innovative AI-powered retail solutions.

What We Are Looking For


Required Qualifications


  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science or a related field.
  • 6+ years of software engineering experience with strong backend development expertise.
  • Proven experience building production-grade AI-enabled applications.

Technical Skills


  • Strong Python programming skills.
  • Experience with FastAPI or Flask.
  • Expertise in Computer Vision, Image Recognition, Image Processing, and OCR.
  • Hands-on experience with PyTorch, OpenCV, YOLO, or similar frameworks.
  • Experience integrating AI/ML models into production environments through APIs.
  • Strong understanding of Vision-Language Models (VLMs) and LLM integration.
  • Prompt Engineering experience for structured AI outputs.
  • Strong SQL and Data Modeling skills.
  • Solid understanding of Microservices Architecture and API-driven systems.

Preferred Qualifications


  • Experience with Azure, AWS, or GCP.
  • Familiarity with Docker, Kubernetes, and CI/CD pipelines.
  • Experience with MLOps practices.
  • Retail domain knowledge, particularly in shelf analytics, planogram automation, or category management, is an added advantage.
