Job description

Come help Amazon create and deploy advanced technologies to deliver packages to the customer's doorstep!

Our team is seeking a Sr. Software Development Engineer to help build the core backend services that power our driver delivery mobile app. The ideal candidate is a full-stack engineer whose primary strength is backend development, with a solid understanding of mobile app development (Android or iOS) to effectively collaborate across the stack and deliver cohesive end-to-end experiences.

You will own the design, development, and operation of highly available, low-latency backend systems that serve millions of delivery drivers daily. Your understanding of mobile app architecture, lifecycle, and constraints will be critical to designing APIs, data contracts, and backend behaviors that deliver a seamless driver experience.
As a senior member of the team, you'll mentor engineers, influence technical direction, and raise the bar across the organization. We're looking for someone who is passionate about building robust systems at scale and who cares deeply about making our drivers' lives better.
Key job responsibilities

• Design, build, and operate scalable backend services and APIs that power the driver delivery mobile app
• Own end-to-end system design - from data modeling and service architecture to API design and deployment
• Collaborate closely with mobile (Android/iOS) engineers to design efficient API contracts, offline-capable data flows, and performant client-server interactions
• Leverage understanding of mobile app architecture (navigation, state management, background processing, push notifications) to inform backend design decisions
• Drive technical design reviews, define best practices, and mentor junior engineers
• Own operational excellence - monitoring, alarming, on-call, and incident response for your services
