This role combines database administration, QAD platform operations, data architecture, security governance, and disaster recovery, while partnering closely with infrastructure, application, and business teams.

The role serves as a technical authority for QAD ERP and related data services, ensuring performance, availability, security, and compliance at scale.

Key Responsibilities

  • Operate a global ERP platform (QAD / Progress OpenEdge) supporting 2000+ users across multiple regions, in partnership with business analysts, developers, and infrastructure teams.
  • Administer and evolve a Progress‑based enterprise data warehouse, supporting analytics, reporting, and operational decision‑making.
  • Act as platform subject‑matter expert for Progress OpenEdge configuration, schema design, deployment standards, and operational documentation.
  • Administer database engines and dependent services, including tax add-on, reporting/query tools, and forms/UI tooling.
  • Drive database and application performance optimization, capacity planning, and proactive tuning in coordination with systems and network teams.
  • Design, document, and operate high‑availability (HA) and disaster recovery (DR) solutions, including after‑hours support models and tested recovery procedures.
  • Support and enforce database governance standards, including change management, backup/restore policies, job scheduling, and operational automation.
  • Implement and maintain security controls, access management, and data integrity standards aligned with SOX and ISO compliance frameworks.
  • Maintain comprehensive platform documentation to support audit readiness, operational continuity, and knowledge transfer.
  • Ensure software licensing compliance and vendor maintenance alignment for ERP and database platforms.
  • Lead data architecture and modeling efforts across transactional systems, data warehouses, and integration layers.
  • Serve as technical lead for QAD ERP upgrades, new implementations, and global rollouts, including planning, coordination, and execution.
  • Design and support system integrations, middleware flows, and data pipelines, including data migration, conversion, and import/export processes.
  • Evaluate and recommend data modeling tools, access technologies, and platform enhancements to improve reliability and scalability.
  • Advise leadership on enterprise information architecture strategy, balancing short‑term delivery with long‑term platform sustainability.
  • Collaborate with business stakeholders to translate functional requirements into scalable, secure data and application architectures.
  • Manage vendor relationships and external consultants to augment internal capabilities as needed.
  • Stay current with ERP, database, and data architecture best practices through professional communities and industry forums.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field, or equivalent professional experience.
  • 5–7 years of enterprise IT experience, including 3+ years in database administration and data architecture roles.
  • Hands‑on experience administering QAD Enterprise Edition ERP.
  • Strong experience with Progress OpenEdge database administration on UNIX/Linux platforms, including shell scripting and automation.
  • Deep understanding of database performance tuning, query optimization, and capacity management.
  • Working knowledge of Progress 4GL, application services (WebSpeed, AppServer), and multi‑tier ERP architectures.
  • Experience designing and supporting data warehouses, data marts, and enterprise application ecosystems.
  • Proficiency in logical and physical data modeling, normalization, metadata integration, and enterprise‑wide data consolidation.
  • Strong analytical thinking, problem‑solving, and systems‑level perspective.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain complex technical concepts clearly.
