The Blast Resistant Design & Simulation Engineer for the analysis, design, and evaluation of structures subjected to blast loads. The role involves performing advanced numerical simulations, developing blast-resistant structural systems, and ensuring compliance with international standards.


Key Responsibilities


  • Perform blast load calculations (TNT equivalency, scaled distance, reflected pressure, impulse).
  • Conduct blast simulations using software such as:
    • ANSYS Autodyn
    • LS-DYNA
    • ABAQUS
    • SAP2000 / ETABS (for structural response checks)
  • Design blast-resistant:
    • Reinforced concrete structures
    • Steel structures
    • UG bunkers and tunnels
    • Ammunition storage facilities
  • Develop Single degree of freedom (SDOF) models for dynamic response analysis.
  • Evaluate structural performance based on:
    • Ductility ratios
    • Support rotation
  • Prepare Detailed engineering reports and technical documentation.
  • Review and interpret project specifications related to explosion loads.
  • Ensure compliance with standards such as:
    • UFC 3-340-02
    • TM manual
    • IATG guidelines
    • ASCE blast provisions
