Key Responsibilities
Ownership & Execution
- Independently plan, scope, and deliver database infrastructure projects and operational improvements end-to-end.
- Define and maintain standards, runbooks, and best practices for database administration across all supported platforms.
- Proactively identify and propose improvements to database management processes, tooling, and architecture.
Operations & Reliability
- Administer, monitor, and optimize production database environments across Microsoft SQL Server, Oracle, and SAP HANA.
- Perform capacity planning, performance tuning, backup/recovery strategy, and high-availability configuration.
- Manage database platforms on both Linux and Windows Server environments.
- Participate in incident response and root cause analysis for database-related issues.
Stakeholder Communication
- Provide clear, regular progress updates to technical and non-technical stakeholders on ongoing initiatives.
- Document decisions, trade-offs, and technical recommendations in a structured and accessible manner.
- Collaborate with application teams, infrastructure teams, and vendors to align database services with business needs.
Continuous Improvement
- Evaluate new database technologies, versions, and configurations to drive efficiency and reduce operational risk.
- Contribute to automation efforts for provisioning, patching, monitoring, and routine maintenance tasks.
Required Qualifications
- 7+ years of hands-on experience in database engineering/administration in enterprise environments.
- Strong expertise in Microsoft SQL Server and Oracle Database (installation, configuration, performance tuning, HA/DR).
- Working experience with SAP HANA administration.
- Solid skills in both Linux (RHEL/SUSE) and Windows Server operating systems.
- Proven ability to work autonomously: plan initiatives, manage timelines, and deliver results with minimal supervision.
- Strong communication skills to report status, risks, and proposals to diverse stakeholders.
- English: Professional working proficiency (B2 minimum, C1 preferred) — required for daily communication across global teams.
Nice to Have
- Experience with IBM Db2 administration.
- Familiarity with database monitoring and automation tools (e.g., SolarWinds DPA, Datadog, Ansible, Terraform).
- Experience with cloud-managed database services (AWS RDS, Azure SQL, GCP Cloud SQL).
- Scripting skills (SQL, PowerShell, Bash, Python).
Desired Certifications
- Oracle: Oracle Certified Professional (OCP) — Database Administration
- Microsoft: Microsoft Certified: Azure Database Administrator Associate or legacy MCSA: SQL Server
- SAP: SAP Certified Technology Associate — SAP HANA
- IBM: IBM Certified Database Administrator — Db2 (plus)
