Job description

The Senior Customer Application Support Engineer (CAS) will provide advanced technical leadership for power conversion, motor control, and energy management solutions across key customer accounts in India. This role combines deep technical expertise with hands‑on customer engagement to support product design‑in, optimize system performance, and enable successful mass production deployments.

The ideal candidate has strong knowledge of power electronics, motor control algorithms, embedded systems, and real‑world application tuning/debugging — along with the ability to engage directly with customers, field teams, and global R&D.

Key Responsibilities

1. Customer Technical Support & Design-In

  • Lead technical ownership for customer design-in activities in power conversion and motor control applications.
  • Support customers through the full lifecycle: architecture definition → design → validation → optimization → production.
  • Provide troubleshooting, debugging, and optimization support on hardware, firmware, and control loops.
  • Conduct design reviews to ensure robustness, efficiency, and thermal compliance.

2. Power Conversion Expertise

  • Guide customers on power topologies such as:
    • AC‑DC, DC‑DC, on-board chargers, DCDC converters
    • Inverters, SMPS, PFC, DAB, LL resonant topologies
  • Support system modeling, efficiency tuning, EMI/EMC compliance, thermal optimization, and protection schemes.
  • Recommend appropriate power devices (MOSFETs, IGBTs, SiC/GaN) and gate‑driver strategies.

3. Motor Control Expertise

  • Support motor control for BLDC, PMSM, induction motors and SRM use cases.
  • Configure and tune FOC (Field-Oriented Control), sensorless control, and advanced control loops.
  • Work with MCU/MPU/NPU-based motor control platforms for EV traction, robotics, whitegoods, industrial drives, HVAC, and mobility solutions.

4. Technical Documentation & Collateral Development

  • Develop application notes, schematics, design guidelines, reference designs, and customer kits.
  • Create training material and deliver workshops to customers, channel partners, and internal teams.
  • Provide technical insights to improve documentation and support materials.

5. Collaboration with Global Engineering Teams

  • Act as the technical bridge between India customers and global R&D / product teams.
  • Provide field feedback for product roadmap, feature improvements, and bug resolution.
  • Support evaluation platform creation, firmware releases, and silicon validation.

6. Pre‑Sales & Post‑Sales Technical Enablement

  • Partner with Business Development and Sales teams to influence early architecture decisions.
  • Present product advantages, benchmarks, competitive comparisons, and solution differentiation.
  • Support PoCs, prototypes, and performance evaluations at customer sites.

Required Skills & Experience

Technical Requirements (Must‑Have)

  • 7–12+ years of experience in power electronics, motor control, or applications engineering.
  • Strong expertise in:
    • Power supplies, converters, inverters, and high‑voltage design
    • BLDC/PMSM motor control, FOC, PWM strategies, gate drive tuning
    • MCU/MPU/dSPIC/ARM Cortex microcontrollers for real-time control
    • Power semiconductor devices (MOSFET, IGBT, SiC/GaN)
  • Hands‑on experience with:
    • Oscilloscopes, power analyzers, current probes
    • Motor tuning platforms, simulation tools (MATLAB/Simulink, PSIM, LTspice)
    • Hardware bring‑up, debugging, EMI/EMC analysis

Soft Skills

  • Strong customer‑facing communication and presentation skills.
  • Ability to work across cross‑functional teams and manage multiple projects.
  • Problem-solving mindset with excellent attention to detail.
  • Ability to simplify complex concepts for non‑technical stakeholders.

Education

  • B.E./B.Tech or M.E./M.Tech in Electrical Engineering, Power Electronics, Electronics, or related fields.

Additional certifications in power electronics or motor control are a plus

Success Metrics
  • Number of successful design‑ins and production wins.
  • Customer satisfaction scores and feedback.
  • Timeliness and quality of technical support and issue resolution.
  • Reference designs, application notes, and training materials delivered.
  • Contribution to product roadmap and field insights.
