Job Description
Specialist, Dev Ops Engineer (Data):
The Opportunity
Our Technology Centers focus on creating a space where teams can come together to deliver business solutions that save and improve lives. An integral part of our companys’ IT operating model, Tech Centers are globally distributed locations where each IT division has employees to enable our digital transformation journey and drive business outcomes. These locations, in addition to the other sites, are essential to supporting our business and strategy.
A focused group of leaders in each Tech Center helps to ensure we can manage and improve each location, from investing in growth, success, and well-being of our people, to making sure colleagues from each IT division feel a sense of belonging to managing critical emergencies. And together, we must leverage the strength of our team to collaborate globally to optimize connections and share best practices across the Tech Centers.
ROLE Overview :
About the Role
We are looking for a DevOps Engineer to own and evolve the CI/CD, infrastructure, and automation layer of a large-scale data integration platform. The platform serves multiple internal teams, runs across AWS and Azure, and delivers data pipelines through orchestration engines like Apache Airflow and Databricks.
You will work closely with data engineers, but your domain is the machinery that builds, tests, packages, deploys, and secures everything they write.
What You Will Do
· Design and maintain CI/CD pipelines — own reusable GitHub Actions over multiple supported versions. Workflows covering dataset build/deploy, framework releases, container image promotion, code analysis, and automated infrastructure provisioning and teardown.
· Author custom GitHub Actions — design, build, and maintain actions that encapsulate reusable steps for Terraform operations, Docker builds, artifact publishing, and dataset lifecycle management.
· Manage cloud infrastructure with Terraform — provision and maintain cloud resources (compute, storage, networking, identity, container services) across multiple environments using Infrastructure as Code, with proper state management, variable layering, and plan/apply workflows.
· Own the container strategy — build and maintain multi-stage Docker images for CI runners, data processing runtimes, and application services; manage image tagging, promotion, and hosting across enterprise container registries.
· Automate credential and secret rotation — operate and improve automated key rotation services that synchronize credentials across CI/CD secrets, orchestration platform connections, and cloud secret stores on a schedule.
· Manage multi-environment promotion — design and enforce artifact promotion workflows from development through testing, UAT, and production, using branch-based strategies with environment protection rules and manual approval gates.
· Orchestrate multi-language build systems — maintain build pipelines that span Maven (Java/Scala artifacts), Python packaging, and Docker image creation within a single release workflow.
· Support data engineering teams — provide tooling, templates, and automation for teams onboarding new datasets and pipelines; maintain repository scaffolding and initialization workflows.
What Should you have :
GitHub Actions & CI/CD
· Deep proficiency in GitHub Actions: workflow design, workflow_call reusability, composite action authoring, matrix build strategies, and environment-scoped secret management
· Experience maintaining a large portfolio of CI/CD workflows across multiple repositories with shared, versioned components
· Hands-on experience with Terraform for provisioning and managing cloud resources across multiple environments
· Module design, variable layering, workspace or state-file-per-environment patterns
· Remote state management with proper locking
· Plan/apply workflows integrated into CI/CD pipelines, including automated infrastructure teardown
· Broad working knowledge of the AWS ecosystem: compute (ECS, Lambda), storage (S3), data services (Glue, Redshift), identity (IAM, OIDC federation), container registry (ECR), monitoring (CloudWatch), and secrets management
· Understanding of AWS networking: VPC design, subnet architecture, security groups, NAT gateways, and private endpoints
· Working knowledge of Azure: App Service deployment, App Registration and service principal management
· Fluent Bash scripting for deployment automation, environment setup, package building, and operational tasks
· Understanding of build artifact lifecycle: versioning (snapshot/release), promotion, and dependency resolution
· Experience with Maven for JVM artifact builds: multi-module projects, assembly plugins, profile-based configuration, and artifact deployment to remote repositories
· Familiarity with Python packaging: pyproject.toml, dependency management, and integration into CI/CD pipelines
· Ability to maintain build pipelines that produce and coordinate artifacts across JVM, Python, and container ecosystems
Qualifications :
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or any technical related field.
· 4+ years of professional experience in DevOps, platform engineering, or site reliability engineering
· Demonstrated experience with Infrastructure as Code at scale — not just writing Terraform, but designing module structures, managing state, and integrating IaC into automated pipelines
· Experience with multi-environment deployment strategies and artifact promotion workflows
· Comfort working across AWS and Azure in the same role
