Sourcing Manager – Power Electronics Products  (Central Inverters, EV Charger , Rail Propulsions System, MV & LV Drives, BESS ),


Location: Bangalore


Reporting To Head – Sourcing Head /Supply Chain / Procurement / Operations


Role Purpose


The Sourcing Manager is responsible for strategic sourcing, supplier development, cost optimization, and supply assurance for high-power and mission-critical power electronics products, including solar central inverters, EV Charger, AC-DC , DC-DC Converter, Traction Converters, Medium-voltage drives, The role ensures cost competitiveness, supply continuity, quality, and technology alignment across global and localized supply chains.


Key Responsibilities


1. Strategic Sourcing & Category Management


Define and execute category sourcing strategies for power electronics and electromechanical components.


Lead RFQs, RFAs, cost benchmarking, and supplier negotiations.


Establish long-term agreements (LTA/LTC) with strategic suppliers.


Manage global and regional sourcing to balance cost, risk, and lead time.


2. Component & Technology Coverage


Power Electronics components IGBT modules, SiC MOSFETs, gate drivers,Power stacks, phase modules, laminated busbars, Magnetics


Inverter duty Transformer


DC link film capacitors, electrolytic capacitors, snubbers


Thermal & Mechanical components like   Heat sinks, cold plates, liquid cooling systems


Cabinets, enclosures, skid structures (IP54–IP65)


Electrical & Protection devices like   ACB/MCCB/VCB, contactors, fuses, relays


MV switchgear interfaces


Control & Auxiliary Electronics, Control PCBs, sensing devices, SMPS, fans, harnesses


3. Supplier Development & Localization


Identify, qualify, and onboard global and local suppliers.


Drive localization, dual sourcing, and supplier risk mitigation.


Conduct supplier audits (technical, quality, capacity, ESG).


Work closely with R&D, Quality, and Manufacturing for PPAP/APQP.


4. Cost Management & Value Engineering


Own cost reduction roadmaps for inverter, drive, and propulsion platforms.


Perform should-cost analysis and cost breakdowns.


Lead VA/VE workshops with suppliers and internal teams.


Track commodity indices (copper, aluminium, semiconductors).


5. New Product Introduction (NPI) Support


Engage early with R&D and system engineering during architecture definition.


Influence design-to-cost and design-for-supply decisions.


Support sourcing readiness for new platforms and variants.


6. Supply Assurance & Risk Management


Manage long-lead items (power semiconductors, magnetics, MV components).


Develop contingency plans for supply disruptions and obsolescence.


Monitor supplier KPIs: OTD, PPM, responsiveness, capacity utilization.


7. Cross-Functional Collaboration


Work with Manufacturing & Planning on capacity and inventory optimization.


Support Sales / Bid teams with cost inputs for tenders and projects.


Interface with Quality & Service for field failure resolution and supplier corrective actions.

Education


Bachelor’s degree in Electrical / Electronics / Power Electronics / Mechanical Engineering


MBA / PG Diploma in Supply Chain (preferred)


Experience


 Sourcing Manager 8–15 years in sourcing/procurement of power electronics, drives, traction converter, inverter systems


Experience with MV/LV equipment and high-power converters preferred


Exposure to global supplier ecosystems and semiconductor sourcing


Skills & Competencies


Strong understanding of power electronics BOMs and cost drivers


Excellent commercial negotiation and contract management skills


Ability to interpret technical drawings and specifications


ERP experience (SAP / Oracle / similar)


Strong stakeholder management and communication skills


Experience with Solar Central Inverter, MV drives, Rail Propulsion System, LV and MV VFD cabinets system


Knowledge of IEC, UL, IEEE standards


Familiarity with Make-in-India / localization programs
