The Kindle Core Services team is responsible for managing and orchestrating the pipelines for ebook conversion from publisher and author uploaded source content in any format to the device compatible format which gives a rich reading experience for the reader. The team ensures to constantly enhance the systems and pipelines to improve the speed and reliability of book conversion.
Our Organization is looking for an inventive and technically passionate Software Development Manager to join our diverse team at the forefront of delighting millions of readers around the world.
As a Software Development Manager, you will be responsible for leading the technical vision of your team and will have a strong influence on the overall strategy behind Kindle content security. You are comfortable with high-levels of ambiguity and make thoughtful trade-offs utilizing strong judgement and data. You have hands-on technical expertise and will lead a team of highly competent engineers through design, development and launch of high-visibility, high-impact projects. You will have the freedom and encouragement to explore your own ideas and the reward of seeing your contributions build trust with authors and publishers. Additional responsibilities of this role include engaging with various stake-holders across business and product management.
Key job responsibilities
· Responsible for the over-all systems development life cycle of a key products
· Management and execution against project plans and delivery commitments
· Manage the day-to-day activities of the engineering team within an Agile/Scrum environment
· Management of staffing, mentoring, and enhancing and maintaining a best-in-class engineering team
· Report on status of development, quality, operations, and system performance to management
· Work closely with the engineers to architect and develop the best technical design and approach
· Develop the long-term strategy for Kindle Content security and translate it into an achievable road map/action plan
. Champion and lead the team through the GenAI transformation SDLC journey
- Bachelor's degree, or Master's degree
- 9+ years of engineering experience
- 3+ years of engineering team management experience
- Knowledge of engineering practices and patterns for the full software/hardware/networks development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, certification, and livesite operations
- Experience partnering with product or program management teams
- Experience with written and verbal communication and presentation
- Experience in communicating with users, other technical teams, and senior leadership to collect requirements, describe software product features, technical designs, and product strategy
- Experience in recruiting, hiring, mentoring/coaching and managing teams of Software Engineers to improve their skills, and make them more effective, product software engineers
- · Deep technical knowledge and demonstrated track record of delivering large, cross-functional, complex customer facing products
- · Excellent interpersonal skills and enjoy working in a highly iterative, agile, and open team environment.
- · Ability to handle multiple competing priorities in a fast-paced environment. · Maturity, judgment, and proven ability to lead and influence others.
