BorgWarner PowerDrive Systems business unit is currently looking for a dynamic, results driven SIL Software Development Lead Engineer for SIL Software development - Project Execution as part of the software engineering competency at our Technical Centre India in Bengaluru.
The PowerDrive Systems business (PDS) unit of BorgWarner is responsible to deliver hybrid and full electric vehicle solutions to customers. Objective is to build strong SIL software development teams for execution of global customer projects in EU, US & China.
In this role, you will drive the design, development, and delivery of SIL (Software-in-the-Loop) solutions for virtual ECU environments. You will lead a team of engineers to virtualize production software, integrate plant models, and ensure high-fidelity simulation aligned with customer requirements. This role demands strong technical expertise in Embedded C, AUTOSAR architecture, and virtualization techniques, combined with leadership skills to manage cross-functional collaboration and project execution.
You will be part of a multi-cultural, multi-disciplined product development team, working on latest state of the art 800V SiC and 400V Si / SiC Inverters for Battery Electric Vehicles and Plug-in Hybrid Vehicles for the e-Mobility mass market.
Key Responsibility:
Leadership & Planning:
Lead SIL development projects, ensuring timely delivery and quality compliance.
Mentor and guide a team of SIL engineers, fostering technical growth and collaboration.
Define SIL architecture and simulation strategies for complex automotive systems.
Technical Execution:
Oversee development and integration of virtual ECUs based on AUTOSAR architecture.
Ensure robust interfaces between SIL environment, plant models, communication buses, and automation tools.
Optimize simulation performance for large-scale system integration and debugging.
Collaboration:
Work closely with global teams, product owners, and testing teams to align SIL solutions with project goals.
o Coordinate with stakeholders for requirement analysis and technical reviews.
What we are looking for:

Bachelors’/Masters’ engineering degree in Electronics/Power Electronics
·
6-12 years of overall experience preferably in automotive embedded software development.
Software Lead experience of at least 3 years. Design and Development experience in hybrid or electric drive propulsion systems is a plus.

Thorough knowledge of Software project management methods and tools
·
Experience with globally distributed teams
·
Strong background in Embedded Systems and SIL development(Level 3 virtualization).
· Good understanding of AUTOSAR architecture & Standards- ASW, BSW, MCAL modules for multiple SWCs, Proficiency & Hands-on of RTE generation. AUTOSAR interface adaptation for RTE communication, Exposure to AUTOSAR configuration artifacts (ARXML, A2L, NVM).

Strong expertise in Programming (C/C++) and debugging for embedded multithreaded and multi core/CPU software environment,

Good ability to comprehend microcontroller hardware and associated schematics
· Experience with virtualization tools (e.g., Synopsys Silver) and plant model simulation (MATLAB/Simulink).
·
Expertise in communication protocols (CAN, LIN, Ethernet) and CoM stack simulation.
· Familiarity with version control systems (Git/Bitbucket) and build systems (Make/CMake).
·
Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
·
Added Experience in scripting and automation (Python, Bash).
·
Knowledge of FMI/FMU-based simulation and test automation frameworks.
·
Prior experience in leading SIL development teams and managing project deliverables.
