Key job responsibilities
- Lead technical solutioning for complex architectural problems requiring multi-team coordination across Prime and Amazon organizations
- Drive adoption of engineering best practices while actively coaching and mentoring multiple engineers to strengthen team capabilities
- Architect and deliver scalable technical solutions for high-impact benefit innovations that serve millions of Prime members worldwide
- Own team architecture with system-wide perspective, providing design guidance and ensuring solutions balance short-term delivery with long-term foundation
- Develop critical path code for complex systems while establishing robust software development practices including optimal data structures, algorithms, and operational excellence
A day in the life
Your day begins leading technical solutioning sessions for complex architectural challenges that span multiple teams and tech stacks. You'll spend time mentoring engineers, reviewing code to ensure it fits the bigger picture, and making key technical decisions that balance performance, scalability, and maintainability. Throughout the day, you'll collaborate with stakeholders across Prime and Amazon, translating business requirements into innovative technical approaches while developing critical path code for systems that impact millions of customers.

The Benefits, Pricing & Constructs team contributes to this vision through four input levers: increasing potential value through new benefits and capability improvements, making every current and future Prime member aware and excited about Prime's value, innovating and scaling new Prime constructs to reach new members and serve distinct segments, and growing total Amazon long-term free cash flow through strategic investments across benefit partners and pricing decisions.

- 5+ years of non-internship professional software development experience
- 5+ years of programming with at least one software programming language experience
- 5+ years of leading design or architecture (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience
- Experience as a mentor, tech lead or leading an engineering team
- Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent
- 5+ years of full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations experience
