Join the team that brought you the Echo Show, a touch-screen enabled Alexa device that supports video calling, music, weather, and more! Our team also works on other high-profile consumer electronics products including Fire TV, Kindle, and the Echo family of devices.
We are looking for talented and motivated embedded software development engineer to join the team, innovate and build next generation Amazon Echo devices that deliver intuitive and intelligent voice assistant to millions of customers with many exciting features!
Key job responsibilities
In this role, you will:
• Be responsible for system architecture and development of new features for embedded systems
• Investigate, prototype and deliver new and innovative system solutions
• Profile, Analyze and optimize system level performance
• Design, develop and verify firmware for embedded systems
• Participate in design reviews, API development, and documentation
• Work with new technologies that are vital to product development
• Deliver investigation plans and reports, architectural documents, design specs, software and firmware source code, build scripts
• Execute across the full embedded development lifecycle — debug, board bring-up, Beta, and production
• Collaborate closely with cross-functional software and hardware teams, ensuring seamless integration across the product stack
• Drive the adoption and innovation of Generative AI tools and practices across the full software development lifecycle
A day in the life
In this role, you will work in a collaborative environment with internal and external teams to bring new silicon and peripheral technologies to life. You will design and implement embedded software to form the core of our devices, working through hardware bring-up from early silicon to production. You will craft your software from requirements, designs, code, test, to product deployment. You need to navigate technical ambiguity, making priority calls in order to develop solutions with high quality.
About the team

- Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent
- 3+ years of non-internship design or architecture (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience
- 4+ years of non-internship professional software development experience
- Experience programming with at least one software programming language
- Experience in embedded development in C/C++
- Experience working with RTOS, Android and/or Linux system
- Experience with board bring-up and troubleshooting of embedded systems
- Master's degree in computer science or equivalent
- 3+ years of full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations experience
- Experience in software development, or experience in Linux OS and network troubleshooting and experience in Linux and Networking protocols
- Experience with Linux on ARM CPUs
- Experience with real time debugging tools (software and hardware)
