An opportunity to join the Market Platforms organization in a strong and experienced team of Software Development and DevOps specialists to build, support and enhance operational efficiency of numerous applications, critical to running Nasdaq markets on 23 x 5 online schedule.
As a Software Engineering Specialist, you will design, enhance, implement, test and the deploy the software solutions for multiple applications. When production support is required, you will focus on answering support calls and resolving production issues with infrastructure and software during the US night hours.
Key skills will include software development, building microservices, RESTful API, and browser-based user interfaces. Required proficiencies will also include automation tools, cloud services, software development practices, and system administration techniques, ensuring efficient and reliable operation of modern IT environments. In short, we are looking for someone who is well rounded in Software Engineering Principles and can cross over to DevOps Practices in some capacity as the situation demands.
Besides working closely with your colleagues in Mumbai you will also work closely with Nasdaq teams in other countries.

• Architect, Design and Develop software and infrastructure solutions in accordance with standards and practices.
• Work with architects to capture requirements and suggest, design and  develop infrastructure solutions for new projects.
• Streamlines and automates IT Engineering and Operations
• Work with other engineering teams to invent development processes for new projects.
• Identify, prescribe solutions and implement remediation as required by InfoSec findings.
• Serve as knowledge resource for advice and mentorship on technical issues, both internally to your own team and externally to other engineering teams.
• Maintain the software, repair bugs, and respond to downtime in accordance with business continuity plan.
• Provide support for software engineering teams.
• Conduct all business in accordance with policies and procedures.
• All other duties as assigned.

We expect you to have: (Minimum Qualifications)

• At least 6-9 years of experience as a Software engineer, with contributions to software development.
• Expertise in Java and JDK. Specific technologies with the ability to demonstrate Object Oriented Programming core concepts
• Expertise in Spring and Spring Boot to develop enterprise level applications
• Experience with AWS and/or other cloud technologies with exposure to Infrastructure as a Code core concepts.
• Has worked in a containerized environment with exposure to Docker and Kubernetes
• Experience working in the Linux environment, writing Linux commands and writing shell scripts
• In depth understanding in some or all of the following technologies – Python, Kotlin, Kafka, HTML, ReactJS, RESTful APIs
• Exposure and understanding of some or all of the following core concepts – Microservices, Relational Database, RESTful Web-services
• Understanding of the concepts of DevOps and experience with building, testing and deploying infrastructure with Terraform or similar tools
• Experience with automated build, test and deployment of application and infrastructure using tools for CI/CD
• Passion for learning new technologies and staying updated with industry trends that help you improve your skills and knowledge.
• Strong problem-solving and analytical skills that enable you to troubleshoot and resolve complex issues.
• Good communication and collaboration skills that enable you to work well with developers, stakeholders, and users.
• Creativity and innovation in creating solutions that meet user needs and expectations and deliver value to the business.
• Attention to detail and quality assurance to ensure your software products are of high quality and meet the standards and requirements.

Education Qualification: Degree qualified in a discipline related to Computer Science, Information Systems, or equivalent work experience

It would be great if you (Preferred Qualifications)

• Knowledge of Equities trading

• Experience with real-time, high-throughput applications.
• Understanding data lakes and data-warehousing.
• Build tools: Maven and Git.
• Java Frameworks (Keycloak, OpenSearch).
• JSON.
• Web security skills: SAML, encryption, certificates, and web attack protection.

• JUnit, automated testing and test-driven development experience.
