Software Dev Engineer III, Delivery Experience

We combine customer impact with retail invention, solving huge technical challenges along the way.
DEX defines, builds, launches and manages customer-facing delivery programs and features across all of Amazon. We own systems that power retail delivery (both customer-facing and back-end), leveraging company-wide technology solutions or designing them from the ground up. Together, DEX is changing how customers experience delivery – from the speed, convenience, and selection features they see on the site every day, to launching Prime delivery benefits and other new programs to customers around the world.

* Our mission is to provide consistent, accurate, and relevant delivery information to every single page on every Amazon-owned site, which means millions of customers WW will be impacted by your contributions,
* The changes we make directly impact the customer experience on Amazon websites on numerous platforms (mobile/tablets, desktop, set-top boxes, etc.),
* This is a highly visible and very critical role, owning multiple tier 1 services,
* We are setting up a new team in the Hyderabad Development Center and you have the opportunity of being a founding member of the team.
A day in the life
Technical Skills:
* Lead architecture and design of complex applications
* Evaluate technical choices and make trade-offs
* Integrate solutions with existing Amazon systems
Communication and Collaboration:
* Strong verbal and written communication skills
* Interact with senior management and stakeholders
* Clarify ambiguous issues and negotiate technical solutions
Leadership and Mentorship:
* Set technical vision for products
* Review technical designs and code
* Mentor other engineers and raise the bar on standards
Operational Excellence:
* Ensure high system availability and reliability
* Identify and implement best practices in coding, testability, and security
* Proactively monitor and maintain systems
- 5+ years of non-internship professional software development experience
- 5+ years of programming with at least one software programming language experience
- 5+ years of leading design or architecture (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience
- Experience as a mentor, tech lead or leading an engineering team
- Experience programming with at least one modern language such as Java, C++, or C# including object-oriented design
- Bachelor's degree
- Experience using Unix/Linux
- 5+ years of full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations experience
