Ready to Transform Amazon's Procurement Systems?
The Global Corporate Procurement (GCP) Tech team is building modern procurement applications from the ground up - cloud-native systems that combine search capabilities, AI-powered assistance, and streamlined approval workflows to transform how Amazon employees purchase what they need to deliver for customers.
We are looking for a Software Development Engineer II to own and deliver features across this greenfield initiative. This is an opportunity to shape the foundation of systems designed to serve Amazon's global workforce.
About This Role
As an SDE II in GCP Tech, part of the Finance Automation organization, you will drive technical decisions for your areas of ownership and contribute to the architecture of cloud-native applications built on AWS. You will work on a greenfield initiative where the technology strategy is defined but the solution design is yours to shape.
You will design, develop, and deploy features end-to-end - from requirements through production. You will contribute to technical design discussions, make trade-off decisions that balance customer needs and delivery speed, and mentor junior engineers. Working closely with product managers, UX designers, and cross-functional teams, you will translate complex procurement workflows into scalable technical solutions.
Key job responsibilities
- Design and develop software features end-to-end, from broadly defined problems through deployment and production operations; leverage generative AI tools to enhance productivity and code quality
- Make design trade-offs between scalability, maintainability, and delivery speed; deliver customer value iteratively while building toward longer-term system goals
- Operate what you build: monitor production health, participate in on-call, and resolve issues end-to-end
- Guide teammates toward better solutions through code reviews and design feedback; mentor junior engineers
- Collaborate with product managers, UX designers, and cross-functional teams to translate business needs into technical solutions
About the team
You will join the engineering team within GCP Tech. We ship frequently, own what we build end-to-end, and operate in a low-bureaucracy environment where engineers have direct access to product and business stakeholders. The team is growing, and early members have outsized influence on technical direction, engineering practices, and team culture.
- 3+ years of non-internship professional software development experience
- 2+ years of non-internship design or architecture (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience
- Experience programming with at least one software programming language
- 3+ years of full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations experience
- Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent
