Senior Software Engineer

We are looking for a Senior Software Engineer to join our Threat Data & Insights team located in Bangalore, India, reporting to the Director, Engineering in Burnaby. In this key role, you will design, develop, and support core platform features that power our cyber security products. You will collaborate closely with distinguished engineers, architects, QA, Product Security, and Customer Escalation teams to deliver scalable, secure, and reliable solutions. 

Be a Contributor — What You’ll Do  

• Design and implement high-quality, maintainable, and testable code 
• Produce comprehensive design and test documentation 
• Participate in code reviews and contribute to continuous improvement 
• Collaborate across teams to resolve complex technical challenges 
• Design, develop, and debug software modules for the Threat Data platform and Threat Insights 
• Write high-quality code using Golang and Scala/Spark
• Apply your knowledge of software engineering best practices 
• Create detailed design documents and comprehensive test plans 
• Collaborate with product architects, senior engineers, QA, and Support teams to resolve complex technical challenges  

Be Prepared — What You Bring

• Minimum 8+ years  of professional experience in software engineering 
• Proficiency in at least one programming language like Golang or Java 
• Solid problem-solving skills with strong interpersonal and communication abilities 
• Familiarity with REST and gRPC frameworks 
• Experience with Kubernetes and cloud platforms such as AWS or GCP highly desirable
• Knowledge of databases, caching technologies (Redis), and messaging systems (Kafka)
• Good system design and architectural experience
• Experience in mentoring junior engineers 

Be Successful — Your Path 

First 90 Days: Immerse in our culture, connect with mentors (Blox Buddies), and map the systems. Meet with key stakeholders that rely on your work. Discuss and create short- and long-term goals. 

Six Months: Understand key functionalities of the core Threat Data & Insights platforms. Contribute to analyzing, providing root cause analysis, and delivering solutions for issues within the platform.

One Year: Provide technical leadership for the core Threat Data & Insights team. Play a major role in analyzing, designing, delivering, and maintaining core platform features and resolving platform issues.
