The Role:Engineer III, Software Engineering


Team:Enterprise Data Organization | Distribution and Data Platforms– Data Management Tech|Internal Knowledge Platforms



Role Summary:



Reporting to the Associate Director, Internal Knowledge Platforms, the Engineer III, Software Engineeringis responsible fordeveloping, deploying, maintaining, and supporting bespoke capabilities and integration with open-source tools in the Knowledge Graph space.



This individual contributor role combines domainexpertisein the Software, Cloud, and Data Engineering spaces with practical exposure to Data Science and Knowledge Engineering disciplines, in support of enabling delivery and ongoing operation of enterprise-grade semantic tooling across the larger divisional ecosystem.



Key Responsibilities:



  • In partnership with Product andsenior engineering leadership, contributing to the implementation of the engineering roadmap for semantic stack solutions, including integration with bespoke or proprietary internal systems.



  • Supporting the end-to-end software development lifecycle, includingrequirementsrefinement, application development, testing, cloud-native deployment automation, and production support.



  • Contributing to collaborative R&D and rapid prototyping within the semantic space, working closely with Knowledge Engineering.



  • Building, enhancing, andmaintainingshared capabilities, in a shift-left environment enabling federated consumption across divisions and business units of S&P Global.



  • Monitoring, troubleshooting, and resolving application and platform issues, with a focus on reliability, maintainability, and operational excellence.



  • Ensuring systems are secure, compliant, auditable, and observable in alignment with Enterprise standards.



  • Supporting ongoing platform stability, performance, and service improvements through practical execution,issueremediation, and continuous enhancement.



  • Taking ownership of assigned services and components, including maintenance, support, documentation, and lifecycle management.



Required Qualifications:



  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, ora relatedfield.



  • 4+ years of progressive experience in Software Engineering.



  • Strong knowledge and hands-on experience with container management platform-based technologies in AWS.




  • Experience and comfort developing modern Python software (3.13+ minimum).



  • Experience and comfort implementing and working within CICD / IAC processes (GitHub Actions, Terraform).



  • Proven ability to build, maintain, and support software solutions in complex, data-driven environments.



  • Experience with production support, issue resolution, application maintenance, and continuous improvement of software systems.



  • Agile mindset, with the ability to work effectively through change and shifting priorities in a fast-paced environment.



Preferred Qualifications:



  • Experience and comfort developing modern Java software (JDK17+ minimum).



  • Demonstrated experience supporting microservice architectures and event-driven systems handling both high-volume and high-velocity data.



  • Prior experience with Resource Description Framework (RDF) data, SPARQL, and RDF-basedtriplestoresis a significant plus.
