Roles and Responsibilities

1. Load Balancer Installation & Configuration:
- Deploy, configure, and upgrade F5 BIG-IP modules (LTM, GTM/DNS, ASM, APM).
- Configure NetScaler ADC (Gateway, Load Balancing, Content Switching, GSLB).
- Build VIPs, pools, health monitors, SSL offload, and traffic steering policies.
2. Load Balancer Administration & Optimization:
- Perform daily health checks, certificate renewals, SSL/TLS hardening, and cipher suite updates.
- Optimize traffic flows, persistence profiles, connection limits, and HTTP/HTTPS tuning.
- Maintain iRules, traffic policies, responder policies, rewrite/redirect logic.
3. High Availability & Global Traffic Management:
- Configure HA pairs, sync-failover groups, clustering, and device service clustering.
- Implement global load balancing (GSLB) and DNS traffic distribution.
- Validate failover, redundancy, and DR routing resilience.
4. Switching & Routing (Core Networking):
- Configure Layer 2/3 technologies: VLANs, STP, VTP, EtherChannel, OSPF, BGP, EIGRP.
- Troubleshoot routing loops, broadcast storms, flapping ports, and uplink issues.
- Support WAN routing, MPLS, SD-WAN, and QoS.
5. Security & Compliance:
- Enforce security on ADC/F5: WAF policies, DoS protection, bot mitigation.
- Implement ACLs, segmentation, secure access, and encryption standards.
- Support audits, compliance checks, and secure configuration baselines.
6. Troubleshooting & RCA:
- Diagnose issues across the application delivery stack (L2-L7).
- Troubleshoot certificates, health monitors, connection resets, latency, and failover events.
- Analyze logs, tcpdumps, performance graphs, and system alerts.
7. Integration & Application Delivery Support:
- Work with application teams to onboard services using blueprints and templates.
- Configure load balancing for web, app, API, microservices, and on‑prem/cloud workloads.
- Support hybrid integration with Azure/AWS/GCP load balancers.
8. Monitoring & Operations:
- Configure alerts, dashboards, and analytics using F5 iHealth, NetScaler MAS, SNMP, Syslog.
- Maintain device backups, version control, and configuration archives.
9. Decommissioning & Lifecycle Management:
- Decommission legacy VIPs, devices, or clusters.
- Clean up unused certificates, objects, and routing entries.
- Update CMDB, network diagrams, and documentation.
10. 3rd‑Party & Vendor Coordination:
- Engage with F5/Citrix TAC, network carriers, ISP providers, and OEMs.
- Track support tickets, implement fixes, and validate patches.



Additional Responsibilities

Certifications (Preferred):
- F5 CTS/CA, Citrix CCA‑N/CCP‑N.
- CCNP/CCIE (Routing & Switching or Enterprise).
- ITIL Foundation.
Behavioral Competencies:
- Analytical, detail‑oriented, and proactive.
- Strong communication and documentation discipline.
- Ability to work in high‑pressure environments.
Shift Requirements:
- Business hours with on‑call rotation.
- Availability for maintenance windows and change deployments.

Technical Requirements

Required Skills:
- 8+ years hands‑on experience in load balancers (F5 BIG‑IP & NetScaler ADC).
- Strong knowledge of L4-L7 traffic management, SSL, TCP profiles, and application delivery.
- Solid L2/L3 networking: switching, routing, OSPF, BGP, VLANs, trunks.
- Experience with HA, clustering, GSLB, WAF, and ADC security.
- Strong troubleshooting via packet captures, logs, and CLI tools.
Preferred Skills:
- Scripting knowledge (Python, Bash, PowerShell).
- Experience with automation (Ansible, Terraform, AS3, F5 DO/FAST).
- Cloud load balancing (Azure Traffic Manager, AWS ALB/NLB/ELB, GCP LB).
