Key Responsibilities:
1. Installation & Configuration:
- Install, configure, and upgrade IIS and Apache Web Server.
- Configure virtual hosts, sites, bindings, pools, modules, and handlers.
- Implement SSL/TLS certificates, renewals, and HTTPS configurations.
2. Administration & Maintenance:
- Manage application pools, worker processes, modules, filters.
- Perform log rotation, cleanup, backup of configurations.
- Manage file permissions, service accounts, and runtime dependencies.
3. High Availability & Clustering:
- Configure load balancing and clustering in IIS.
- Configure Apache clustering with Reverse Proxy, LoadBalancer, or Mod_Cluster.
- Support health checks, failover, and cluster readiness testing.
4. Performance Optimization:
- Perform tuning of worker processes, threading, caching, compression.
- Troubleshoot performance bottlenecks, memory leaks, high CPU usage.
5. Security & Compliance:
- Configure hardening standards for IIS/Apache.
- Manage authentication, authorization, SSL/TLS, and cipher suites.
- Implement secure headers, limits, and access controls.
6. Troubleshooting & RCA:
- Analyze IIS logs, HTTP error logs, Apache error/access logs.
- Troubleshoot application connectivity, routing, timeout issues.
- Provide RCA and preventive measures.
7. Automation & Scripting:
- Automate tasks using PowerShell, Bash, Python, or shell scripts.
- Version control configuration changes.
8. Decommissioning & Lifecycle Management:
- Retire legacy servers and applications.
- Archive logs, clean dependencies, update CMDB.
Certifications:
- Microsoft / Linux / Web Server certifications (preferred)
- ITIL Foundation
Behavioral Competencies:
- Excellent documentation and communication.
- Strong analytical and troubleshooting mindset.
Shift Requirements:
- Business hours with on-call support.
- Availability for maintenance windows and emergency support.
Location - BLR and CHN
Required Skills:
- 6+ years in IIS/Apache administration.
- Experience in clustering, reverse proxy, SSL, performance tuning.
- Strong knowledge of Windows/Linux OS.
- Experience with log analysis and troubleshooting.
Preferred Skills:
- Experience with Nginx, Tomcat, WebLogic, or other middleware.
- Monitoring with Grafana, Prometheus, Dynatrace, or AppDynamics.
- Scripting with PowerShell/Python.
The Senior Middleware Administrator is responsible for installation, configuration, administration, clustering, optimization, troubleshooting, and decommissioning of middleware and web server platforms including Microsoft IIS and Apache Web Server. The role ensures availability, stability, performance, and security of enterprise web hosting environments.
