Job Purpose The Lead / Principal Software Engineer (Salesforce) role exists to architect, lead, and govern the end?
to?end Salesforce ecosystem for the Wheels org and associated enterprise applications.
This position is critical in driving platform strategy, architectural decisions, scalability, security, and innovation, while ensuring high availability and performance of Salesforce for loan origination, underwriting, servicing, and analytics use cases.
The role acts as a technical authority and delivery leader, mentoring teams, shaping roadmap initiatives, leading complex integrations, and ensuring Salesforce platforms align with Bajaj Finance’s long?
term digital and business transformation goals.
Duties and Responsibilities Key Responsibilities • Own Salesforce solution architecture across Sales, Service, Experience, and custom Loan Origination & Underwriting workflows, ensuring scalability, security, and extensibility aligned with enterprise standards.
• Lead and govern design, development, customization, and large scale integrations of Salesforce CRM and allied business critical systems, ensuring optimal performance and high system resilience.
• Define and enforce Salesforce best practices, including coding standards, architectural patterns (Apex, LWC, event driven integrations), DevOps pipelines, and release governance.
• Act as overall technical lead for complex programs and multi team initiatives, managing dependencies, technical risks, and delivery milestones across multiple streams.
• Ensure platform stability and availability by proactively driving monitoring strategies, performance tuning, capacity planning, and preventive controls to minimize business disruptions.
• Lead Tier 3 / Tier 4 support initiatives, conducting deep root cause analysis, resolving critical incidents, and eliminating recurring production issues.
• Design and oversee enterprise integrations between Salesforce and external systems (Portals, EDW, DWH, Core Lending Systems, Mobile Apps) using REST/SOAP APIs, event streaming, middleware, and security best practices.
• Drive change and release governance, including impact analysis, approval processes, regression strategies, and controlled production deployments aligned to ITIL and DevOps models.
• Mentor and guide engineering teams, conducting design reviews, code reviews, technical grooming sessions, and capability building for Salesforce developers and administrators.
• Provide strategic inputs to leadership, contributing to Salesforce roadmap planning, platform modernization initiatives, and evaluation of new Salesforce features and ecosystem tools.
• Ensure compliance, audit readiness, and security adherence, collaborating with Risk, Audit, and Compliance teams to meet regulatory and enterprise controls.
Key Decisions / Dimensions • Selection and definition of Salesforce architectural patterns, integration frameworks, and data strategies for enterprise implementations.
• Decisions on platform scalability, performance optimization, and security controls to support future business growth.
• Prioritization of technology initiatives, refactoring efforts, and technical debt remediation in alignment with business impact.
• Determination of integration mechanisms (real time vs asynchronous, middleware usage, event driven models) across connected systems.
• Approval of release strategies, deployment models, and rollback approaches for large scale changes.
• Decisions on incident escalation, root cause solutions, and permanent corrective actions for high severity issues.
• Recommendations on adoption of new Salesforce features, tools, accelerators, or third party integrations.
• Evaluation of vendor deliverables and technical quality from external partners.
Major Challenges • Architecting and sustaining high volume, high availability Salesforce platforms integrated with numerous enterprise systems while maintaining performance and data integrity.

• • Ensuring continuous modernization of Salesforce architecture amidst rapid Salesforce product evolution and increasing data volumes.
• • Building and sustaining strong engineering capability, knowledge continuity, and documentation in fast changing environments.
Required Qualifications and Experience a) Qualifications Bachelor’s / Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field.
Relevant Salesforce certifications (such as Platform Developer II, Integration Architecture Designer, System/Application Architect, or Salesforce Industries/FSC certifications) are highly desirable.
b) Work Experience • 9–10 years of overall experience, with 6+ years of deep, hands on experience in Salesforce Admin/Developer/Technical Lead roles within large scale IT or enterprise technology environments.
• Proven experience in leading Salesforce implementations, complex integrations, and large production environments with high user and data volumes.
• Exposure to financial services domain, preferably lending, loan origination, underwriting, or customer lifecycle management systems, is strongly preferred.
________________________________________ Skills and Knowledge • Strong expertise in Apex, Java (preferable) and Salesforce Lightning (LWC/Aura) with proven ability to design scalable, maintainable, and high performance Salesforce applications using enterprise grade OOP and design patterns.
• Deep understanding of Salesforce architecture and ecosystem, including Sales Cloud, Service Cloud, Experience Cloud, security & sharing models, performance optimization, governor limits, and platform scalability considerations.
• Extensive experience in enterprise level system integrations, leveraging Salesforce APIs (SOAP/REST), platform events, event driven architectures, middleware solutions, and secure integration patterns.
• Proven ability to architect and govern end to end technical solutions, including data models, integration flows, deployment strategies, and environment management.
• Strong leadership in program delivery and technical project management, including defining technical roadmaps, estimating effort, managing risks, handling dependencies, and tracking delivery across multiple parallel initiatives.
