Your impact

The UK water sector is undergoing its biggest transformation in decades. The review by the Independent Water Commission (IWC) comes at the same time as unprecedented investment, creating a once-in-a-generation opportunity to redefine water and wastewater infrastructure.

For the roles, you’ll work on projects to contribute from concept through completion, ensuring high-quality outcomes and compliance with regulatory and safety standards. While working on the projects, you’ll have the chance to develop your skills on major frameworks and work alongside industry experts.

As a Civil Design Engineer, you will be responsible for supporting overall work progress and technical performance on projects. Working with other members of our team, you'll collaborate closely with business group project delivery leadership or other senior project managers/operations leaders who provide oversight and mentoring.

Key experiences preferred:

• Engineering calculations and drawing preparation/coordination (e.g., hydraulics, pipe design, fittings). Undertake, check and review civil calculations (drainage calculation, floatation check, service crossing check, thrust block)
• Preparation of technical memos, reports, and specifications
• Experience in water treatment and wastewater treatment facilities civil engineering scope
• Coordination with other disciplines to ensure the design of the roadways, landscaping, drainage and piping are sufficient to meet the operational needs of the facility. Skills include site access, structure location, terrain modelling, utilities design & modelling, site preparation, grading, drainage, site utilities, piping, landscaping
• Support and collaborate with Conveyance, Water Resources, Infrastructure and Buildings teams on multi-disciplinary projects, as well as with the client
• Coordination of designs with support to clients and third party strategic stakeholders for permitting and regulatory approvals
• Undertaking and reporting onsite inspections, organizing and leading site inspections. Providing constructability advice to the design team

Here's what you'll need

• Bachelor of Civil Engineering / Technology
• Preferred:
  • Post Graduate degree in Environmental Engineering/ Water Resources/Irrigation or equivalent 
  • Familiarity with UK water sector regulations and safety protocols.
  • Professional membership (ICE or CIWEM) is desirable but not essential.
  
  
• 5+ years’ experience in an engineering consulting environment 
• Experience in civil engineering, with knowledge of detailed design and/or design-and-build projects for water and wastewater assets.
• Strong understanding of civil engineering principles and project lifecycle management.
• Experience in working with multiple disciplines on small to large projects. Collaborate with internal teams and external stakeholders to drive project success.
• Ensure technical delivery meets regulatory and safety standards.
• Build and strengthen relationships with our water sector clients.
• Excellent communication, time management, and organizational skills
• Excellent report writing skills
