Job description

If you are a Senior Application Developer with deep full-stack expertise in Node.js and React, this role offers the opportunity to take technical ownership of enterprise web applications, designing scalable backend services, architecting Progressive Web App experiences, and raising the engineering bar across the team. You will build Node.js REST API services, deliver mobile-friendly React PWA front-ends, and lead MongoDB-backed data architecture decisions within Emerson's Lifecycle Services IT organization.

If this sounds like a perfect fit for you, apply now and join our team in India!

In This Role, Your Responsibilities Will Be:

  • Lead the design and delivery of complex full-stack features, owing technical decisions from data model and API contract design through React PWA front-end implementation and production deployment.
  • Architect and build scalable Node.js backend services and RESTful APIs using Express.js or NestJS, defining patterns for authentication, error handling, versioning, and performance that junior developers follow.
  • Lead PWA architecture decisions, including service worker strategy, offline-first caching design (Cache API, Workbox), push notification infrastructure, and app installability, while setting the standard for PWA implementation across the team.
  • Design MongoDB data models and aggregation strategies for complex application requirements, enforce NoSQL data modeling best practices, and guide data architecture decisions across the team.
  • Deliver mobile-friendly React front-end interfaces, including responsive layouts, touch-optimized interactions, and performance tuning for users across desktop, tablet, and mobile devices.
  • Drive code quality across the team, set standards, lead code reviews, identify and resolve technical debt proactively, and ensure consistent engineering practices.
  • Mentor and support mid-level and junior developers through code reviews, pair programming, and technical guidance.
  • Conduct root cause analysis on complex production incidents, lead performance profiling and optimization across Node.js, MongoDB, and React/PWA layers.
  • Contribute to technical roadmap discussions, providing engineering input on feasibility, risk, and build-vs-buy decisions for new platform capabilities.
  • Participate in Agile ceremonies, contribute to sprint planning, and support delivery of team commitments.

Who You Are:

You analyze multiple and diverse sources of information to define problems accurately before moving to solutions. You make good and timely technical decisions that keep the team moving forward even under ambiguity or incomplete information. You act with a clear sense of ownership and take personal responsibility for decisions, actions, and failures. You effectively communicate in various settings and provide timely, helpful information across the organization. You create teamwork that enables others to achieve shared objectives and act as a natural technical enabler for the people around you.

For This Role, You Will Need:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field.
  • 8+ years of full-stack web development experience with demonstrated depth in Node.js backend and React frontend delivery.
  • Expert-level proficiency in building and operating production Node.js services with Express.js or NestJS, including RESTful API design, middleware architecture, authentication (JWT/OAuth2), performance tuning, and service reliability.
  • Deep expertise in React development, including component architecture, hooks, state management (Redux or Context API), code splitting, performance optimization, and delivering consistent experiences across device sizes.
  • Proven experience architecting and shipping Progressive Web Applications (PWA) solutions, including service worker lifecycle management, offline-first caching strategies (Cache API, Workbox), web app manifest, push notifications, and installability.
  • Proven experience delivering web applications optimized for mobile and tablet, responsive and touch-optimized design, mobile performance profiling, Core Web Vitals, and cross-device testing.
  • Strong hands-on experience with MongoDB, including document and collection design, aggregation pipelines, indexing strategies, performance optimization, and data model design.
  • Expertise in designing, documenting, and governing REST APIs, including authentication patterns, versioning, contract design, and integration with third-party enterprise services.
  • Solid familiarity with Git branching strategies, Azure DevOps or similar CI/CD pipelines, and sprint-based delivery; strong English communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications that Set You Apart

  • Experience with advanced Workbox strategies, such as background sync, periodic background fetch, and complex multi-layer caching architectures.
  • Familiarity with Web Push API and push notification infrastructure (FCM, VAPID keys).
  • Experience with GraphQL or WebSocket-based real-time application patterns.
  • Knowledge of microservices architecture, including service decomposition, inter-service communication, and API gateway patterns.
  • Experience with automated testing at scale such as Jest, Cypress, Playwright, PWA-specific offline and installability testing.
  • Familiarity with Docker and containerized deployment pipelines, and Azure DevOps CI/CD experience.
  • Exposure to cloud platforms preferably Microsoft Azure, for application hosting, monitoring, and deployment
