As a key contributor to Ciena’s finance organization, this role supports our mission to deliver adaptive, high‑speed connectivity by ensuring the integrity, accuracy, and compliance of our financial operations. The Accountant plays an essential part in enabling data‑driven decisions and maintaining strong financial governance across the business.
 


How you will make an impact:
• Ensure timely and accurate monthly financial reporting, including financial statements, Month‑End Closing, Variance Analysis, and Accrual Accounting.
• Maintain and monitor prepaid amortization schedules in alignment with accounting standards.
• Manage lease accounting in accordance with IFRS 16 and ASC 842.
• Perform detailed variance analysis for financial statements and budgets to deliver actionable insights.
• Prepare monthly, quarterly, and yearly financial statements while ensuring compliance with internal policies and regulatory requirements.
• Collaborate with statutory auditors by providing documentation, reconciliations, and audit explanations.
• Ensure adherence to statutory and tax regulations while resolving financial reporting and audit‑related inquiries.
 


The must haves:
• Chartered Accountant (CA), CA Intermediate (CA Inter), M.Com, or MBA in Finance.
• 2–5 years of relevant accounting experience, preferably within a multinational environment.
• Proficiency in ERP systems and advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
• Strong knowledge of accounting principles and standards, including IFRS and GAAP.
 


Nice to haves:
• Experience with Oracle or other large ERP systems.
• Familiarity with US GAAP and STAT reporting.
• Background supporting statutory audits, tax audits, and preparing indirect tax and corporate income tax filings.
