Role Summary / Position Overview 


The Salesforce CPQ Architect will lead the design, architecture, and delivery of scalable, high-performance Salesforce CPQ and Revenue Cloud solutions aligned to enterprise sales transformation initiatives. This role is responsible for defining the CPQ architecture strategy, governing solution design standards, and ensuring best-in-class implementation across quoting, pricing, product configuration, billing, and revenue lifecycle processes. 


The Architect will collaborate closely with Sales, Finance, Product Management, IT, and Executive Leadership teams to drive digital selling capabilities, optimize quote-to-cash processes, and enable revenue growth. This role demands both deep technical expertise and strong business acumen, with the ability to translate complex commercial models into scalable Salesforce solutions. 


Primary Responsibilities 


Strategic Responsibilities 


• Define and own the Salesforce CPQ and Revenue Cloud architecture roadmap aligned with enterprise digital strategy. 
• Establish governance standards, design principles, and best practices for CPQ implementations. 
• Lead solution blueprinting for large-scale Quote-to-Cash (Q2C) transformations. 
• Provide architectural oversight across multiple projects and environments. 
• Evaluate and recommend third-party integrations, managed packages, and platform enhancements. 


Functional Responsibilities 


• Design complex pricing models including discounting strategies, subscription models, bundling, renewals, and amendments. 
• Architect product configuration frameworks including constraints, validation rules, and dynamic product rules. 
• Enable advanced approval processes, pricing waterfalls, and margin controls. 
• Support global sales operations including multi-currency, multi-entity, and regional compliance needs. 
• Align CPQ processes with finance systems for billing, invoicing, taxation, and revenue recognition. 


Technical Responsibilities 


• Architect solutions using Salesforce CPQ (Steelbrick), Billing, and Revenue Cloud capabilities. 
• Design scalable data models and integration frameworks. 
• Lead API-based integrations (REST/SOAP), middleware platforms (MuleSoft, Boomi, etc.), and ERP integrations (SAP/Oracle). 
• Oversee custom development using Apex, LWC, Flows, and Platform Events. 
• Ensure system performance optimization, security, scalability, and DevOps best practices. 


Leadership Responsibilities 


• Provide technical leadership to CPQ developers, administrators, and consultants. 
• Mentor team members and conduct architecture reviews. 
• Drive Agile ceremonies, backlog prioritization, and release governance. 
• Act as escalation point for complex production issues. 


Required Skills & Qualifications 


• 10+ years of overall Salesforce experience with minimum 4–5 years in Salesforce CPQ architecture and implementation 
• Proven experience leading end-to-end CPQ implementations (Discovery → Design → Build → Deploy → Hypercare) 
• Deep understanding of Quote-to-Cash lifecycle 
• Strong expertise in Salesforce data modeling and system design 
• Experience with Agile and SAFe methodologies 
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field 


Preferred Skills 


• Experience with Salesforce Billing and Revenue Cloud 
• Knowledge of subscription lifecycle management 
• Experience with enterprise ERP integrations (SAP, Oracle, NetSuite)  
• Exposure to DevOps tools such as Copado, Gearset, or AutoRABIT 
• Experience with global rollouts across multiple business units 
• Ability to define reusable CPQ frameworks and accelerators 


Certifications 


• Salesforce Certified CPQ Specialist (Mandatory) 
• Salesforce Certified Platform Developer I/II 
• Salesforce Certified Application Architect (Preferred) 
• Salesforce Certified System Architect (Preferred) 
• Salesforce Administrator Certification 


Experience Required 


• 10–14+ years of IT experience 
• 4–6+ years of hands-on Salesforce CPQ experience 
• Experience delivering at least 2–3 enterprise-scale CPQ implementations 
• Exposure to complex pricing models, subscription businesses, or manufacturing product hierarchies

• Salesforce CPQ (Product Rules, Price Rules, Advanced Approvals, Quote Templates) 
• Salesforce Billing
