This role is for one of the Weekday's clients Salary range: Rs 2000000 - Rs 4500000 (ie INR 20-45 LPA) Min Experience: 8 years Location: mumbai JobType: full-time You will lead the merchant‑sales and channel‑sales function for our payment‑gateway / fintech business, responsible for revenue growth, team building, and AI‑driven sales‑stack adoption .
You will own both direct merchant‑sales and partner / channel‑sales performance, and shape how the team uses AI‑powered tools and outbound‑automation platforms to generate new business.
Key Responsibilities Develop and implement the merchant sales and channel sales strategies for the payment gateway business across India and/or the region.
Recruit, train, and lead a team comprising Sales Managers for Merchant Sales , Channel Sales Managers , and SDRs/BDRs.
Create and continuously improve an outbound multi-channel sales playbook utilizing tools such as Apollo, Outreach, LeadIQ, LinkedIn Sales Navigator , and similar platforms.
Collaborate with product, marketing, and partnership teams to identify key merchant segments and partner channels , including e-commerce, SaaS, neo-banks, and agent networks.
Drive new merchant acquisition and partner onboarding efforts, prioritizing volume, quality, and sustainable monetization .
Foster a data-driven, AI-enhanced sales culture by: Leveraging AI-powered tools for lead enrichment, sequence optimization, and performance analytics.
Reviewing and optimizing content, sequences, and workflows based on conversion metrics.
Take ownership of revenue goals, KPIs, and sales performance metrics , providing detailed monthly and quarterly reports to leadership.
Ensure a seamless transition to onboarding, implementation, and customer success teams , and monitor merchant health following the sale.
Must-Have Experience 8–12+ years of experience in B2B or B2B2C sales , with a minimum of 4–5 years in fintech, payments, SaaS, or financial services .
Proven leadership experience managing a merchant sales and/or channel sales team in areas such as payment gateways, merchant acquiring, or SaaS platforms.
Demonstrated success in consistently meeting or exceeding revenue and onboarding targets within fast-paced, high-growth environments.
Proficient in the use of AI-driven sales tools and outbound sales stacks like Apollo, Outreach, LeadIQ, ZoomInfo, and LinkedIn Sales Navigator.
Capable of handling both direct sales and indirect/channel sales frameworks.
In-depth knowledge of the online payments ecosystem , merchant behaviors, and pricing strategies.
Nice-to-Have Experience leading market expansion into new geographies or verticals , such as SMEs, e-commerce, SaaS, and neo-banks.
Track record of growing a sales team from 5–10 members to over 20 .
Familiarity with product-led or API-first payment platforms where merchant onboarding includes both self-serve and assisted processes.
Understanding of regulatory and compliance requirements in payments and fintech, including KYC and risk management.
Leadership & Cultural Expectations Coach-first approach : Focus on building, mentoring, and nurturing high-performing sales teams.
Data-informed leadership : Base decisions on pipeline health, engagement levels, and conversion metrics.
Collaborative partner : Work closely with Product, Marketing, Partnerships, and Customer Success teams to ensure aligned go-to-market strategies.
Sales operations innovator : Lead the pilot and implementation of AI-powered sales workflows and automation .
