We are looking for a Nano Scientist to explore and engineer nanomaterials for advanced water and wastewater treatment applications. The role focuses on various chemistries used for developing different membranes and composites. The position requires the application of nanoscience to evaluate different membrane types and determine their suitability for managing a wide spectrum of organic, inorganic, and biological pollutants with distinct physicochemical properties.
The candidate will work on understanding nano-scale interactions in adsorption, catalysis, and separation processes. The ideal applicant should possess a strong background in nanomaterials synthesis, characterization, and application-driven research, with an eye toward translating laboratory results into scalable field technologies.
Key Responsibilities
Select fit-for-purpose membranes based on surface characteristics and detailed laboratory evaluations.
Assess membrane performance and recommend the most suitable membrane configurations for specific treatment applications.
Synthesize and characterize nanomaterials, nanocoatings, and nanocomposites for water purification, with a focus on improving flow characteristics and treatment efficiency.
Evaluate photocatalytic, adsorptive, and membrane-based applications of nanomaterials.
Study stability, reusability, and toxicity of developed materials.
Collaborate with chemistry and process teams for hybrid process development.
Evaluate ready to use external technologies and technologies at the early stages to bring the required differentiation.
Publish and patent findings to strengthen L&T’s intellectual property base.
Support pilot plant studies to validate laboratory innovations.
Qualifications
Education: PhD in Nanotechnology with a science or engineering background.
Experience: ~10 years total, with minimum 3 years in water/environmental applications.
Expertise in nano-synthesis, surface modification, and material characterization.
Deeper understanding of nano science and surface characteristics of materials
Publications: Minimum 5 research papers in reputed journals; patents and conference contributions preferred.
Prior experience in setting up of nano science lab is desired
Familiarity with advanced analytical tools (TEM, AFM, XPS, Raman spectroscopy).
