Under broad supervision, responsible for a range of engineering activities in new product research, including the development of new methods, programs, and procedures in accordance with the overall business direction. Roles and Responsibilities:
- Leads and Executes Research projects from conceptualizations to commercial production launch.
- Designs and develops of new technologies using creative solutions.
- Assessing viability and feasibility of new technologies.
- Collects, records, reports and present results to peers and supervisor/manager either orally or in writing.
- Independently applies engineering principles to achieve project objectives, including the design and execution of complex experiments, and analysis and interpretation of data under limited supervision.
- Trains, guide and advise junior colleagues in solving technical problems as required.
- Knowledge of various analytical techniques and interpretation of data from instruments independently including, but not limited to IR, Raman Spectroscopy, ICP, AAS, TGA, DSC, Particle size analysis, SEM, XPS, WAXD, etc.
- Understands chemical structure and their property relationships of materials including processing and rheology of polymers and apply them in various project activities.
- Utilizes a broad range of practical techniques in surface chemistry and material science.
- Closely follow and evaluate scientific literature, publications, and draw conclusions for the company, Gathering business and technical intelligence through patent, technical network, and literature
- Responsible for scientific oversight on material selection, process optimization, design scale up processes, manufacturing process qualification and implementation into future.
Skills and Qualifications Required
- MTech in Chemical Engineering, Material Science, Catalysis or Polymer technology and > 5 years of industrial R&D.
- Demonstrated skills of design and processing of polymers, applying principles of rheology of polymer materials in producing molded articles is critical to the role.
- Skills in rapid solving of polymer processing and surface chemistry-related problems with chemical composition and physical structure characterization using the latest techniques, Able to use advanced analytical techniques for material characterization for structure and property determination.
- Ability to lead projects and willingness to learn new domains and work in multi-disciplinary domains.
- Excellent professional communication and technical skills.
- Genuine enthusiasm for materials research in an interdisciplinary, application-oriented field.
