The opportunity
The Production Engineer - Mechanical at Hitachi, Ltd. will play a critical role in optimizing manufacturing processes, improving efficiency, and ensuring the high-quality production of mechanical components and systems. This role involves applying mechanical engineering principles to enhance production lines, reduce waste, and implement innovative solutions.
How you'll make an impact



  • Design, develop, and optimize manufacturing processes for mechanical components and assemblies, focusing on efficiency, cost-effectiveness, and quality.



  • Analyze production data to identify bottlenecks, areas for improvement, and implement corrective actions.



  • Collaborate with design engineering teams to ensure manufacturability of new products and provide feedback on design for manufacturing (DFM).



  • Develop and implement standard operating procedures (SOPs), work instructions, and process documentation.



  • Select, install, and troubleshoot manufacturing equipment, tools, and machinery, ensuring optimal performance and uptime.



  • Conduct root cause analysis for production issues, including quality defects, equipment failures, and process deviations, and implement permanent solutions.



  • Lead or participate in continuous improvement initiatives using methodologies such as Lean, Six Sigma, and Kaizen.



  • Monitor and report on key production metrics, including yield, cycle time, and machine utilization.



  • Ensure compliance with safety regulations, quality standards (e.g., ISO), and environmental guidelines in all production activities.



  • Train and mentor production staff on new processes, equipment operation, and quality control procedures.



  • You will be ensuring compliance with applicable external and internal regulations, procedures, and guidelines.

Your background



  • Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related field.



  • Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in a production engineering or manufacturing engineering role, preferably within a high-volume manufacturing environment.



  • Strong understanding of mechanical engineering principles, materials science, and manufacturing processes (e.g., machining, fabrication, assembly, welding, casting).



  • Proficiency in CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, AutoCAD, CATIA) for reviewing designs and creating fixtures.



  • Experience with process improvement methodologies (Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma) and relevant tools.



  • Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot complex mechanical and process issues.



  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.



  • Ability to work effectively in a cross-functional team environment.



  • Familiarity with quality management systems (QMS) and relevant industry standards.



  • Experience with PLC programming, robotics, or automation systems is a plus.
