Purpose of the Role:The Principal Weight Control Engineer is responsible for monitoring, analysing, and managing weight and center of gravity (CoG) data for projects to ensure compliance with design requirements, safety criteria, and client specifications. The role leads the preparation, review, and maintenance of weight control reports, databases, and registers, tracking changes throughout the project lifecycle. In addition to performing advanced weight impact assessments, the Principal Weight Control Engineer coordinates with structural, mechanical, piping, and other disciplines to ensure weight growth is controlled and properly documented. The position also provides technical guidance to engineers and graduates, supports risk assessments related to lifting, transportation, and installation, and plays a key role in ensuring safe, efficient, and cost-effective project execution in line with Ranhill Worley’s standards.


Key Responsibilities:


  • Responsible for the establishment of a consistent weight control/management system and the routines needed to support and maintain such a system.
  • Able to interface and interact with all project disciplines to ensure a correct estimation of the weights of bulks & equipment. 
  • Responsible for collecting, managing and monitoring weight related information from all disciplines, creating, maintaining and updating the weight database during all project phases. 
  • Establish the Weight and Load budget according to project requirements.
  • Ensure that weight procedures and specifications are adhered to during the design and construction phases.
  • Coordinate with engineers and project teams to resolve weight-related challenges.
  • Work closely with design and engineering teams to optimize weight control systems.
  • Liaise with project management to ensure timely and cost-effective project delivery and manage client relationships.

Qualifications / Skill Set:


  • 18+ years of experience in Weight Management or related field and 5+ years in project leadership.
  • Degree in Civil/Structural Engineering or related field
  • Background in weight management of Fixed/Floating Offshore structures.
  • Strong knowledge of weight control systems and techniques.
  • Proficient with weight management database systems and weight analysis tools (e.g. SACS, MON, Microsoft Access, Microsoft Excel, etc.)
  • Strong leadership and project management skills.
