Principal Engineer, Embedded Software Test Lead


Role Overview


We are seeking a Principal Engineer to lead embedded software test and validation across Zephyr RTOS, Linux and No-OS SDKs for ARM Cortex-M and Cortex-A based SoCs. This hands-on leadership role owns test strategy and validation spanning pre-silicon validation on virtual prototypes and emulation platforms through post-silicon bring-up.


Key Responsibilities


Test Strategy & Execution


  • Define and execute system validation and integration test plans for Analog Devices' SoCs running Zephyr RTOS and embedded Linux.
  • Build test cases covering functional correctness, corner cases, performance, power mode transitions, and boot sequence validation across virtual prototyping, emulation, and post-silicon environments.
  • Establish test coverage metrics, pass/fail criteria, and quality gates for release milestones.

CI/CD & Test Infrastructure


  • Architect and maintain CI/CD pipelines using GitHub Actions for automated build, test, and regression workflows across Zephyr and Linux targets.
  • Define the test framework strategy (e.g., Zephyr Twister, custom frameworks, or hybrid approaches) and integrate static analysis, code coverage, and test reporting into CI/CD workflows.

Debugging & Root-Cause Analysis


  • Lead cross-domain debugging spanning hardware, firmware, RTOS, BSP, using debug tools, trace utilities, and logs.
  • Collaborate with firmware, driver, and bare-metal test teams to resolve issues and refine test methodologies.

Team Leadership


  • Mentor engineers on test methodologies and debugging best practices
  • Document findings and present status and risks to stakeholders.

Required Qualifications


  • Bachelor's or Master's in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or related field.
  • 10+ years in embedded software validation, system integration testing, or post-silicon debug for complex SoCs.
  • Experience with ARM Cortex-M and Cortex-A architectures, cross-compilation toolchains, and embedded debug tools.
  • Proficiency with GitHub Actions or similar CI/CD build and test automation.
  • Strong Python skills for test automation, log analysis, and tooling.
  • Demonstrated experience with virtual prototyping and/or emulation platforms for pre-silicon validation.
  • Proven people management experience leading engineering teams.
  • Proficiency with Git and modern development workflows.
  • Excellent communication skills for both technical and executive audiences.

Preferred Qualifications


  • Hands-on experience with any RTOS and embedded Linux.
  • Familiarity with static analysis tools (Coverity, etc.) and code coverage in CI/CD.
  • Prior silicon bring-up and low-level debug experience (Segger, Lauterbach).
