The Principle Engineer for Electrical reports to the Discipline Lead for the Mining and Metals Sector. The position will provide consistent leadership and role modelling of Jacobs’ core values, fostering an inclusive and diverse culture across the Sector that embodies Jacobs’ Culture of Caring and prioritises the health and wellbeing of people. You will set clear direction regarding client focus and responsiveness and will help to ensure we can identify and anticipate client needs.
This role will focus on the delivery of key opportunities within the new energy and resources sector, including studies from our clients in new energy and resources and downstream delivery phases of studies and sustaining capital works. The role will work alongside Engineers and Technicians, providing project delivery, design management and project management. The role will support the management of the section in terms of team development and growth, building design capability and growing the portfolio within Jacobs. Key to this role will be interfacing with the ANZ Resource Hub Teams in order to improve delivery capability to meet targets.
Key elements of your role include:
•Work collaboratively with other team members to deliver goals and targets of the team and sector to ensure they thrive in a global setting, encouraging cross-geography relationships in order to maximise the benefit of global delivery to our clients and our people.
•Collaborating with commercial, project management and technical leaders to create opportunities for Jacobs to plan, develop, deliver and operate a range of projects in the new energy and resources market.
•Work alongside Senior, Associate and Principal Engineers to achieve the best outcomes for project delivery.
•Good communication skills:
oInterface between all stakeholders.
oReport writing (technical, progress etc).
oGood computer literacy.
oInterfacing positively and successfully with our Jacobs virtual teaming groups will be an important part of this role.
•Ensure tasks undertaken are understood completely before starting.
•Contribute to the multi-disciplinary engineering elements in delivery of study and delivery phases of projects (with a focus on structural engineering). This will require working with local and regional delivery as well as the ANZ Resource Hub in order to build and improve delivery within the sector.
•As a structural engineer you will be hands on in engineering delivery, project-and design management of technically excellent engineering designs for financially successful consultancy services whilst achieving excellent client satisfaction.
•Support the discipline leaders and project managers in the on-time delivery of projects.
•Attend key client meetings where possible to gain an understanding of the relationships that we aspire to develop and maintain to become a trusted advisor across the sector.
•Maintain compliance with Jacobs QA procedures, including the deliverables review QA process.
•Meet and balance scope of deliverables with time allocation.
•Careful application of industry experience with limited guidance.
•Mentor and facilitate the technical development of more junior resources to meet market requirements.
