Job Summary
Synechron is seeking a highly experienced QA Engineer specializing in Cards & Payments systems to lead quality assurance activities for ATM and POS environments. The role involves designing and executing comprehensive test strategies, supporting transaction lifecycle testing, and ensuring compliance with scheme rules such as Visa and Mastercard. The ideal candidate will possess deep domain expertise, automation skills, and the ability to lead QA efforts in a regulated, high-availability environment, contributing significantly to system stability, security, and customer satisfaction.

  • JIRA, ALM, or similar test management tools — for tracking requirements and defect management


  • Postman, SOAPUI, Specmatic — for API testing and validation of messaging protocols


  • Playwright, LeanFT, WinAppDriver, or similar — automation frameworks supporting testing across ATM/POS messaging and interfaces


  • Java, .NET, or C++ — scripting and automation support (preferred)


  • Oracle, SQL — database querying for data validation and reconciliation


  • Version control systems: Git, Bitbucket — for source code and test artifact management


Preferred Software Skills:

  • Support system upgrades, migrations, and certification processes supporting regulatory and operational requirements


  • Conduct root-cause analysis, troubleshoot issues, and coordinate defect resolution efforts


  • Collaborate with product, development, and infrastructure teams to optimize test coverage and system stability


  • Support performance testing, security assessments, and compliance verifications supporting industry standards

  • Extensive experience in testing messaging protocols (ISO 8583, ISO 20022, AS2805), scheme certification, and ATM/POS devices


  • Ability to lead QA activities, coordinate with offshore teams, and ensure high-quality delivery in regulated environments


  • Background supporting scheme certifications (Visa, Mastercard) and systems like Diebold Nixdorf, FIS, or similar is preferred


Day-to-Day Activities


  • Develop, execute, and maintain manual and automated test scripts for ATM/POS and payment messaging systems


  • Validate transaction flows, messaging protocols, and scheme compliance through functional and certification testing


  • Lead certification testing activities, including documentation and scheme approval processes


  • Troubleshoot system and messaging failures, support incident management, and perform root-cause analysis


  • Collaborate with product, development, and infrastructure teams to improve test coverage and system reliability


  • Conduct security assessments and compliance verification aligned with industry standards based on testing outputs


  • Maintain detailed documentation on test cases, test results, certification logs, and operational procedures


  • Support pre-certification, post-certification, and system readiness activities for payment platforms


Qualifications


  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a relevant field


  • 7+ years of QA experience supporting cards, ATM, POS, or payment systems in enterprise environments


  • Proven success in leading complex testing activities within regulated banking or financial services environments


  • Certifications such as ISTQB or schema certification programs are advantageous


  • Experience supporting or managing scheme certification processes (Visa, Mastercard) is a plus
