Your role and responsibilities

As a key member of our compiler platform compatibility team, you will be focused on the V8 JavaScript engine. In this role, you will:





. Design and Develop:Maintainthe V8 backend for s390x architectures.



. OptimizePerformance:Dive deep into Just-In-Time (JIT) compilation and garbage collection (GC) subsystems to analyze and improve performance for customer workloads.



. Contribute to Open Source:Activelyparticipatein the V8 open-source community, contributing your code andexpertiseupstream tobenefitthe entire ecosystem.



. Debug and Troubleshoot:Tackle complex, low-level issues using tools like GDB,identifyingroot causes in generated code and runtime behavior.




.Drive Innovation:Stay current with advancements in compiler technology, JavaScript language features, andWebAssemblyto drive innovation within IBM.





Required education
Bachelor's Degree

Required technical and professional expertise

. Compiler Expertise:Goodknowledge of compiler architecture, code generation, and optimization techniques



.Programming Mastery:Proficiencyin C/C++ and assembly language, with specific hands-on experience ins390x assembly



. Debugging Skills:Good debugging skills, including experience with tools like GDB




. Linux Proficiency: Familiarity with the Linux operating system, its development tools, and command-line environment





Preferred technical and professional experience

. Experience with other parts of the V8 engine, such as Turbofan, Liftoff, Sparkplug, Maglev, Torque, or Sandbox.



. Strong knowledge of JavaScript andWebAssembly(Wasm).



. Familiarity with Node.js internals.



. Experience with performance analysis and profiling tools.



.Knowledge of modern CI/CD practices and tools (Git, Jenkins, etc.).



.Exposure to Opensource contributions
