5 - 4 LPA) Min Experience: 3 years Location: Chennai JobType: full-time Supreme Power is seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Mechanical Engineer with 3–5 years of experience in transformer design to join our growing engineering team.
The ideal candidate will play a key role in designing, developing, and optimizing transformer components, ensuring high performance, reliability, and compliance with industry standards.
This role requires strong technical expertise in mechanical design principles, hands-on experience with transformer structures, and the ability to collaborate effectively across cross-functional teams.
Key Responsibilities: Design and develop mechanical components of power and distribution transformers, including tanks, radiators, conservators, and core clamping structures.
Prepare detailed 2D/3D designs and manufacturing drawings using CAD tools such as AutoCAD, SolidWorks, or Creo.
Perform mechanical calculations related to stress analysis, thermal expansion, pressure resistance, and structural integrity of transformer assemblies.
Collaborate closely with electrical design teams to ensure integration of mechanical and electrical requirements.
Optimize designs for cost efficiency, manufacturability, and performance without compromising quality and safety.
Support prototyping, testing, and validation processes, including reviewing test results and implementing design improvements.
Ensure compliance with relevant standards such as IEC, IS, and ANSI in all design aspects.
Work with production and quality teams to resolve design-related issues during manufacturing and assembly.
Participate in design reviews, documentation, and continuous improvement initiatives.
Coordinate with vendors and suppliers for component development and technical clarifications.
Required Skills & Competencies: Strong expertise in transformer mechanical design, including tank design, cooling systems, and structural components.
Proficiency in CAD software (AutoCAD, SolidWorks, Creo, or similar).
Good understanding of materials used in transformer manufacturing, including steel structures and insulation materials.
Knowledge of fabrication processes such as welding, sheet metal design, and machining.
Familiarity with thermal and structural analysis tools is an added advantage.
Ability to interpret technical specifications, standards, and engineering drawings.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
Effective communication and teamwork abilities.
Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
3–5 years of relevant experience in transformer design or a similar heavy electrical equipment industry.
