Job description

You’ll be working with the Manufacturing Engineering & Supplier Development team.
This team is responsible for developing and industrialising electrical hardware systems used in EV battery packs, BMS systems and rapid charging products.
The focus is on building scalable and reliable manufacturing processes for wiring harnesses, PCBAs and electrical assemblies through strong collaboration with supplier partners and cross-functional engineering teams.
This role combines electrical hardware understanding, manufacturing process knowledge and supplier development capability to enable high-quality electrical systems manufacturing at scale.
Our philosophy: Break.
Believe. Build Break stuff.
Break assumptions.
Break the thumb rule.
Believe in the team.
Believe in the process.
Believe through failures.
Build fast.
Build passionately.
Build to simplify.
What you will do In this role, you will own the development and industrialisation of wiring harnesses and PCBAs manufactured at supplier facilities.
You will work closely with design teams, manufacturing partners and quality teams to ensure electrical hardware systems are manufacturable, reliable and production-ready.
You will support both low-voltage signal harnesses and high-current power harnesses, while also driving process understanding and manufacturability improvements for BMS and charger PCBAs.
Responsibilities Wiring Harness Manufacturing Development • Lead development of signal and power wiring harnesses for EV battery and charging systems • Support manufacturing processes for harnesses ranging from low-current signal wiring to high-current power harnesses (0.
5 sq.mm to 500 sq.
mm class applications) • Understand and support processes including: – Wire cutting and stripping – Crimping and terminal selection – Ultrasonic welding and splicing – Connector assembly – Harness routing and protection – Overmoulding and insulation processes • Evaluate manufacturability, reliability and serviceability of harness designs • Ensure compliance with electrical safety, insulation and current-carrying requirements • Work closely with vendors to improve process capability, quality and delivery performance PCBA Manufacturing & Process Understanding • Develop high-level understanding of PCBA manufacturing processes used in BMS and charger electronics • Understand key manufacturing stages including: – SMT assembly – Reflow soldering – Wave soldering – AOI / SPI inspection – Functional testing and ICT • Identify manufacturing risks related to soldering quality, thermal exposure, component handling and assembly reliability • Support manufacturability reviews and supplier discussions for PCBAs • Coordinate with design and electronics teams to improve production robustness and testability Supplier Development & Industrialisation • Work with supplier partners to establish stable and scalable manufacturing processes • Conduct process audits, manufacturability reviews and capability assessments • Support NPI builds, pilot production and validation activities • Drive closure of quality and process issues within aggressive timelines • Ensure proper traceability, process control and documentation at supplier facilities Process Capability & Continuous Improvement • Understand critical process parameters and manufacturing risks for electrical hardware • Drive process capability improvements and defect reduction initiatives • Support root cause analysis and implementation of corrective actions • Cross-deploy process learnings and best practices across suppliers and programs The ideal candidate requires • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Electronics, Mechatronics or related engineering field • Minimum 5 years of experience in electrical hardware manufacturing or supplier process development • Strong understanding of wiring harness manufacturing processes for both signal and power applications • Experience with high-current power harnesses and EV electrical systems preferred • Awareness of PCBA manufacturing processes and associated manufacturing risks • Understanding of connectors, terminals, crimping standards and electrical protection methods • Experience working with suppliers and external manufacturing partners • Strong troubleshooting, coordination and execution capability Preferred / Added Advantage • Experience in EV battery packs, BMS systems or charger manufacturing • Familiarity with IPC standards, crimp quality standards and electrical validation requirements • Exposure to ICT, FCT and End-of-Line testing methodologies • Understanding of DFMEA, PFMEA and APQP methodologies • Familiarity with MES and traceability systems for electronics manufacturing What matters • Detail-oriented approach toward quality and electrical reliability • Strong ownership and supplier management capability • Ability to work across electrical, manufacturing and quality domains • Practical and execution-focused mindset • Ability to balance technical depth with aggressive timelines • Strong communication and cross-functional collaboration skills About Us Exponent simplifies energy for EVs.
Co-founded by Arun Vinayak (Ather Energy's Founding Partner & Former Chief Product Officer) and Sanjay Byalal (Former hardware strategic sourcing and cell strategy lead, Ather and Former Supply Chain Lead, HUL), Exponent focuses on solving two sides of the energy problem by building the e^pump (charging station) and e^pack (battery pack) which together unlock 15-min rapid charging The 200+ strong team has tons of EV experience and is in the process of hiring more professionals to build & scale Exponent as one of the best EV Energy Companies out of India
