Manager Indirect Tax Compliance


What you will do

For this new role, we are seeking an Indirect Tax Compliance Manager to assist establishing a Center of Excellence (CoE) focused on VAT and GST compliance across multiple regions and managing Amgen’s VAT/GST compliance. This role is pivotal in shaping the future of indirect tax operations and driving compliance efficiency.


The successful candidate will be a strong team player with a passion for technology, automation, and process excellence.


Responsibilities


  • Compliance & Risk Management
    • Ensure accurate and timely VAT filings and reporting in line with global and regional regulations.
    • Monitor VAT/GST changes and assess impact on compliance processes and technology set-up.
    • Proactively manage risks and establish strong internal controls.
    • Partner with regional finance and tax to ensure local compliance requirements are met consistently.
  • Technology & Process Transformation
    • Assist with implementation of automation tools and maintenance of an indirect tax engine to streamline VAT compliance processes.
    • Work on process improvements
    • Collaborate with IT and external vendors.
  • Team & Stakeholder Collaboration
    • Act as a trusted collaborator to tax, finance, and business partners on VAT/GST compliance matters.

As Manager Indirect Tax Compliance you will be reporting to the Senior Manager Indirect Tax Compliance.

Qualifications


The knowledge and skills necessary to perform the duties of this position are typically acquired through the following combination of education, experience and knowledge, or the equivalent.


Minimum Requirements


  • Doctorate degree and 1 year of tax experience OR
  • Master’s degree and 2 years of tax experience OR
  • Bachelor’s degree and 4 years of tax experience OR
  • Associate’s degree and 8 years of tax experience OR
  • High school diploma / GED and 10 years of tax experience

Preferred Requirements


  • Academic degree or equivalent diploma in Accounting / Finance, Tax Law or Tax Economics
  • A minimum of 5-6 years of experience in a VAT compliance and/or advisory role with an emphasis on supply chain/manufacturing within the Big Four accounting firms or within a financial/tax department of a large multi-national company
  • Experience of EU VAT alongside a working knowledge of cross-border VAT/GST outside of EU is required
  • Demonstrated capability to learn quickly, being open and flexible to changes, in a multi-national environment
  • Attention to detail
  • Pro-activeness in approach to problem solving and technical research
  • Strong interpersonal skills, team player, and highly customer focused
  • Strong computer skills with emphasis on SAP, S/4 Hana DRC and Vertex
  • Experience in VAT and GST within an international VAT compliance team
  • Experience in Pharmaceutical Industry
  • High level in local language or any other major language
