JOB OBJECTIVES: SUMMARY OF OVERALL JOB PURPOSE:


Oversees the planning, design, development, and implementation of engineering projects within the organization. This role is crucial to ensuring the effective and efficient execution of engineering work in compliance with industry standards, health and safety regulations, and environmental guidelines. The Senior Manager - Engineering will lead a multidisciplinary team of engineers, work closely with operations, and be responsible for delivering complex projects on time, within scope, and on budget.


KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:


Policies, processes & procedures:


• Recommends improvements to departmental policy and directs the implementation of procedures and controls covering all areas of engineering activities so that all relevant procedural/legislative requirements are fulfilled while delivering a quality, cost-effective service to customers. 


• Ensure employees are aware and follow the information Security Rules and data security measures in order to protect the company information / intellectual properties.


Budget/Financial:


• Prepares and recommends the Engineering section budget by preparing analysis and data related to specific elements as directed. 


• Monitors the financial performance of the Engineering section against budgets so that areas of unsatisfactory performance are identified and rectified promptly and potential performance improvement opportunities are capitalised upon


Day-to-day operations:


• Lead and manage a team of engineers and technical staff across various engineering disciplines (e.g., mechanical, Structural, electrical, process, instrumentation). 


• Manage engineering projects from start to end, ensuring that they are delivered on time, within budget, and meet quality and safety standards. 


• Develop and manage project budgets, track project expenditures, and report on project progress to senior leadership. 


• Define project scope, goals, deliverables, and timelines, and ensure alignment with company objectives.


• Coordinate with cross-functional teams (operations, HSE, procurement, construction) to ensure successful project execution. 


• Ensure compliance with industry standards, company policies, and regulatory requirements (e.g., API, ASME, IEC, and ISO standards). 


• Identify and manage project risks, develop mitigation strategies, and resolve engineering issues as they arise. 


• Provide technical direction and problem-solving expertise to the engineering team and other departments. 


• Ensure that engineering designs, drawings, and specifications meet technical and regulatory requirements. 


• Review and approve detailed engineering documentation, including design calculations, specifications, and project proposals. 


• Provide guidance on the selection of materials, equipment, and technology to optimize performance and cost effectiveness. 


• Participate in the technical evaluation and selection of contractors, suppliers, and vendors for projects. 


• Maintain regular communication with senior leadership to provide updates on project status, challenges, and achievements.


• Collaborate with other departments (e.g., operations, procurement, construction, maintenance) to ensure smooth integration of engineering designs with day-to-day operations. 


• Act as the primary point of contact for clients, contractors, and vendors regarding engineering matters. 


• Foster a culture of collaboration, innovation, and continuous improvement within the engineering team. 


• Set clear performance objectives for the team and conduct regular performance reviews. 


• Provide mentorship, training, and development opportunities to engineers and junior staff. 


• Oversee the recruitment, training, and professional development of engineering talent within the department. 


• Prepare and present technical reports, proposals, and presentations to stakeholders, including senior management and external clients.


KEY COMPETENCIES:


Language skills:


• Must be fluent in English. 


• Very good knowledge in technical terms and report writing skills. 


• Knowledge of additional languages is added advantage.


Technical competencies:


• In-depth technical knowledge of oil and gas engineering practices, design, and equipment. 


• Excellent organizational and project management skills with a focus on deadlines, resource allocation, and cost management. 


• Excellent knowledge and experience in managing multidisciplinary engineering teams and executing complex oil and gas projects. 


• Strong understanding of the full project lifecycle, from design and engineering to commissioning and operations. 


• Excellent knowledge and experience in managing large-scale, multi-million-dollar projects with a focus on safety, quality, and cost control. 


• Ability to make timely, well-informed decisions based on data, analysis, and practical considerations. 


• Familiarity with relevant industry standards (API, ISO, ASME, IEC, etc.) and regulatory requirements. 


• Knowledge and experience with project management tools (e.g., Primavera P6, MS Project) and engineering software (e.g., AutoCAD, Revit, SolidWorks, etc.). 


• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with the capability to think critically and creatively in resolving engineering challenges.
