This role is for one of the Weekday's clients Min Experience: 10 years Location: Mumbai JobType: full-time We are seeking an experienced and results-driven Manager – API Sales to lead and expand our Active Pharmaceutical Ingredient (API) business.
This role is ideal for a seasoned professional with deep expertise in the pharmaceutical industry, strong commercial acumen, and a proven track record in driving API sales across domestic and international markets.
The candidate will play a critical role in building strategic partnerships, identifying growth opportunities, and ensuring sustained revenue generation.
Key Responsibilities: Drive end-to-end sales of pharmaceutical APIs across regulated and semi-regulated markets.
Develop and execute strategic sales plans aligned with organizational goals and market dynamics.
Identify new business opportunities, customers, and geographies to expand the API portfolio reach.
Build and maintain strong relationships with pharmaceutical companies, contract manufacturers, and key decision-makers.
Manage the complete sales lifecycle, including lead generation, product pitching, negotiation, and contract closure.
Collaborate closely with regulatory, quality, and supply chain teams to ensure timely delivery and compliance with global standards (USFDA, EDQM, WHO-GMP, etc.
). Monitor market trends, competitor activities, pricing strategies, and customer requirements to stay ahead in the competitive landscape.
Participate in industry events, exhibitions, and client meetings to enhance brand visibility and business opportunities.
Prepare sales forecasts, budgets, and periodic reports for senior management.
Ensure high levels of customer satisfaction and long-term relationship management.
Required Skills & Competencies: Strong domain expertise in pharmaceutical APIs, including product lifecycle, regulatory requirements, and market dynamics.
Demonstrated experience in handling international clients, especially in regulated markets such as the US, Europe, and emerging regions.
Excellent negotiation, communication, and interpersonal skills.
Proven ability to achieve sales targets and drive revenue growth consistently.
Strategic thinking with a hands-on approach to execution.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Ability to work cross-functionally and manage multiple stakeholders effectively.
Willingness to travel extensively for business development and client engagement.
Qualifications: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Pharmacy, Chemistry, Life Sciences, or a related field.
MBA or equivalent qualification in Sales/Marketing is preferred.
