About the role
Software Engineers at Mastercard design and code a variety of applications covering transaction processing, analytics, user interfaces, and APIs using a blend of cutting-edge technologies across big data, distributed systems, machine learning, and more. As a Software Engineer, you will deliver these products and solutions with speed and agility as part of a small team. This will involve developing high-performing, highly scalable software solutions and products for some of the world’s top brands. Specific tasks vary depending on the project and the business unit that you join in.

As a Lead Software Engineer at Mastercard, you are expected to perform the following general responsibilities:
• Leads software engineering projects and creates the development and delivery of enhanced software solutions.
• Researches alternative technical solutions for changing business needs.
• Responsible for assuring the daily activities of the team meet the requirements of SLA’s.
Major Accountabilities:
• Lead major projects and complex initiatives with broad scope and long term business impact, driving innovation, quality, cost effectiveness, and faster time to market.
• Own end to end system development and maintenance, ensuring delivery against SLAs and guiding the team through all phases of the SDLC.
• Act as a technical subject matter expert, defining solution architecture, creating strategic technical plans, addressing solution gaps, and leading design and implementation of complex solutions.
• Partner with business, technical, and project stakeholders to identify opportunities, assess ROI, define scope, manage risks and constraints, and support business case development and decision making.
• Evaluate current and emerging technologies, perform PoCs, recommend frameworks and platforms, and contribute to technology selection, vendor evaluation, and RFI/RFP processes.
• Proactively create and maintain solution and technology roadmaps, cost and time estimates, and support project managers in scope and execution management.
• Define and lead quality strategy, methodologies, metrics, and assurance processes, ensuring appropriate test coverage and conducting reviews across requirements, architecture, design, code, security, and performance.
• Lead production incident and problem management, including root cause analysis and remediation.
• Coordinate offshore development, track and report project and software metrics, and continuously improve standards, processes, and engineering efficiency.
• Mentor, coach, and develop team members, deliver technical training and knowledge sharing sessions, assist with staffing decisions, and enforce documentation and compliance standards.
• Ensure adherence to organizational, audit, and compliance requirements, proactively embedding compliance into the SDLC and representing the team during audits.

All about you
Education:
• Bachelor's degree in Information Systems, Information Technology, Computer Science or Engineering or equivalent experience.
Knowledge / Experience:
• 5 to 8 years of experience in related field, including 5 to 8 years of experience in delivering secure solutions in Financial Services Sector is preferred.
• Advanced knowledge and understanding of Software Engineering Concepts and Methodologies, Design Principles is required.
• Experience in Golang, gRPC, Java, AI/ML, REST APIs, async processing, concurrency, multi-threading
• Demonstrate MC Core Competencies.
Skills/ Abilities:
• Ability to be high-energy, detail-oriented, proactive and able to function under pressure in an independent environment along with a high degree of initiative and self-motivation to drive results.
• Strong communication skills -- both verbal and written – and strong relationship, collaboration skills and organizational skills.
• Ability to quickly learn and implement new technologies, frameworks and tools and support multiple concurrent activities and to interface with external / internal resources, working as a member of a matrix based diverse and geographically distributed project team.
