Role Description

We are looking for a Cyber Security Lead Engineer to help establish and scale a new Security Engineering team based in India, providing operational ownership and continuous improvement of FNZ’s core cyber security platforms.

This role is hands-on and leadership-oriented, combining deep technical expertise, team leadership, and operational accountability across multiple security engineering domains. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring security platforms are reliable, well-tuned, and able to support FNZ’s global technology estate.

The role reports functionally to the Head of Cyber Platform Engineering and locally to an India-based manager for day-to-day people and operational support. You will work closely with security engineering and operations teams across the UK, US, and APAC.

Specific responsibilities

Technical & Operational Leadership

  • Own the day-to-day operation and health of multiple cyber security platforms, including:
    • Endpoint Detection & Response (EDR)
    • Web Application Firewall (WAF)
    • Security logging and monitoring (SIEM)
    • Email security
    • Vulnerability management
  • Provide early problem management, technical troubleshooting, and root-cause analysis across security controls.
  • Lead incident-related engineering support, working closely with incident response and SOC teams.
  • Oversee patching, upgrades, configuration changes, and lifecycle management of security platforms.
  • Ensure platforms are operated in line with global standards, architecture, and security strategy.

Team Leadership & Growth

  • Build, lead, and mentor a high-performing team of cyber security engineers in India.
  • Act as a technical escalation point for engineers across supported domains.
  • Support recruitment and onboarding of additional engineers as the team scales.
  • Foster a culture of engineering discipline, collaboration, automation, and continuous improvement.

Continuous Improvement & Engineering Maturity

  • Identify recurring operational issues and drive engineering-led improvements to increase platform resilience and efficiency.
  • Promote and implement automation to reduce manual effort and improve consistency.
  • Contribute to global security engineering initiatives and projects, including onboarding new tools or improving existing frameworks.
  • Provide input into roadmaps, tooling decisions, and operational metrics.

Working Pattern

  • The team provides global coverage across two shifts between 08:00–11:00 (local time), Monday to Friday.
  • Occasional out-of-hours support may be required for major incidents or platform changes.

Experience required

  • 5+ years of experience in cyber security or security engineering roles.
  • Demonstrated experience in a technical lead or senior engineering role, including mentoring or guiding other engineers.
  • Strong hands-on experience across multiple security engineering domains (e.g. EDR, WAF, SIEM, email security, vulnerability management).
  • Solid understanding of enterprise IT and cloud infrastructure.
  • Proven ability to operate, improve, and troubleshoot security platforms at scale.
  • Experience working in global, distributed teams.
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to explain technical issues to both engineering and non-engineering stakeholders.
Nice to Have
  • Experience building or scaling a security engineering team.
  • Exposure to automation, scripting, or infrastructure-as-code in a security context.
  • Experience aligning operational security engineering with security architecture and control design.
