Position Summary:
The Technician – Trainee Electrical (Environmental Testing) supports the execution of environmental and electrical safety testing activities in accordance with defined standards and laboratory procedures. This role involves assisting in testing, recording observations, ensuring proper equipment handling, and supporting laboratory quality management system (QMS) activities to ensure compliance with ISO/IEC 17025 and NABL requirements.
In This Role, Your Responsibilities Will Be:
  • Execute environmental tests as per defined test schedules and standards, recording readings and observations at specified intervals
  • Monitor test samples for abnormal behavior and perform pre- and post-test inspections
  • Assist in functional checks after testing and report any damage, deformation, or failures promptly
  • Support electrical safety testing under supervision, including Insulation Resistance (IR), Earth/Ground Continuity, Leakage Current, Dielectric Strength (Hi-Pot), and mechanical tests
  • Assist in wiring, connections, and preparation of test samples
  • Record test readings accurately in log sheets, formats, or digital systems
  • Ensure safe handling and usage of all test equipment
  • Conduct environmental testing as per IEC 60068 standards and other applicable standards such as UL, CSA, and IEC for:
    • Thermal endurance (high/low temperature)
    • Humidity conditioning
    • Thermal cycling and thermal shock
    • Mechanical tests (drop/impact)
    • IP testing and salt spray testing
  • Ensure proper functioning of laboratory test equipment and facilities
  • Adhere strictly to the Laboratory Quality Management System (QMS) in line with ISO/IEC 17025 requirements
  • Support audit preparation activities and monitor laboratory environmental conditions
  • Assist in maintenance, documentation, and calibration of test equipment
  • Report equipment faults or abnormalities promptly and ensure proper handling and storage of tools and instruments
  • Maintain accurate test data sheets, logbooks, and records of test samples and results
  • Follow standard testing procedures, work instructions, and checklists
  • Update test data and records in the Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS)
  • Perform QMS-related activities such as QC testing and participation in ILC/PT programs as assigned
  • Work collaboratively as part of a team
  • Participate in training programs and maintain updated competency records and technical skills matrix

For This Role, You Will Need:
  • Diploma in Electrical, Electronics, or Mechanical Engineering from a recognized institute
  • Hands-on experience or exposure to environmental testing processes
  • Understanding of laboratory safety practices and equipment handling
  • Basic knowledge of electrical and environmental testing standards
  • Ability to follow standard procedures, document results, and maintain records accurately
  • 2–3 years of relevant experience in an NABL-accredited or similar testing laboratory
Preferred Qualifications That Set You Apart:
  • Hands-on experience with IEC 60068 series standards
  • Exposure to testing of industrial electrical and electromechanical products
  • Familiarity with ISO/IEC 17025 quality systems and lab audits
  • Working knowledge of laboratory systems such as LIMS
  • Experience supporting calibration and audit activities
