Job Overview

The Director - IT Senior Group Manager  ( C15) is a senior management level position within Wealth Technology. This position is responsible for accomplishing results and delivering business value through the management of a team or department driving a variety of engineering activities including the design, build, deployment and management of software, hardware and network. In coordination with application development and partner teams.


We are building a developer-first Internal Developer Platform that enables engineering teams to move fast with confidence. We are seeking a Platform Architect to lead the design of self-service developer platforms with a strong emphasis on Agentic AI–driven test environment management.


This role focuses on creating golden paths for developers and test engineers by abstracting infrastructure complexity behind intuitive platform capabilities—while leveraging AI agents to autonomously provision, operate, optimize, and retire test environments at scale.


You will operate with a platform-as-a-product mindset, combining cloud architecture, automation, and AI-driven autonomy to significantly improve developer productivity, reliability, and cost efficiency.

Responsibilities:


  • Lead and manage a set of engineering teams to deliver business and technology value, working with peers and partners. Actively speed up and improve engineering practices ensuring higher levels of productivity and quality.
  • Define and implement the workforce strategy creating an organization of happy, productive, engaged, co-located engineering teams comprised of direct and supplier staff located globally, including workforce planning, hiring, performance , and pay management. 
  • Implement career development frameworks and processes for the team, providing coaching, mentoring and development of engineering and related job families
  • Be a great partner, but also hold your peers (development, testing , Architecture, Infra team etc) accountable for partnering in delivery
  • Managing Lower environment operations, observability, test data management and test automation will be key focus areas. 
  • Be a strong advocate for and drive the adoption of modern engineering practices including scaled agile, DevOps, CI/CD and automation, and build a culture of engineering and continuous improvement, with a focus on velocity, quality and agility
  • Stay abreast of domain and industry developments and advocate relevant technology strategies as appropriate, including the use of AI, cloud, data technologies, and third-party products, and drive a culture of innovation
  • Develop and implement the technology roadmap and strategy and provide ownership and direction for technology products, working in partnership with the application development team, business stakeholders, and other technology partners
  • Build productive relationships with business counterparts and support the execution of key programs working in partnership with business, infrastructure and security teams
  • Oversee the technology budget for the function and manage the budget and forecasts to ensure relevant targets are met
  • Appropriately assess risk when business decisions are made, demonstrating particular consideration for the firm's reputation and safeguarding Citi, its clients and assets, by driving compliance with applicable laws, rules and regulations, adhering to Policy, applying sound ethical judgment regarding personal behavior, conduct and business practices, and escalating, managing and reporting control issues with transparency, as well as effectively supervise the activity of others and create accountability with those who fail to maintain these standards.

Qualifications:


  • 15+ years of relevant leadership and delivery experience in an Engineering focused role with extensive experience in global business, functional and people management
  • relevant degree in Engineering or computer science from reputed school. Masters degree preferred. 
  • Experience working in Financial Services or a large complex and/or global environment
  • Exposure to working with AI-assisted software development models, and experience implementing Gen AI use cases
  • Experience providing leadership for scaled agile release trains preferred; program management experience helpful
  • Demonstrated ability to influence remote, senior stakeholders including senior business executives
  • Experience in tracking and monitoring delivery, productivity and organizational health metrics
  • Experience planning, forecasting and managing technology budgets at team level, including project tracking and governance
  • Demonstrated systems thinking, critical analysis and design thinking skills
  • Ability to work in a globally matrixed environment and partner with virtual teams and external partners

Education:


  • Bachelor’s/University degree in Engineering, Master’s degree preferred
Developer Platform Architecture
  • Architect and evolve the Developer Platform used by application and test teams.
  • Ensure platform capabilities are:
    • Self-service
    • Consistent
    • Secure by default
    • Observable and governed
  • Treat the platform as a product with clear SLAs, adoption metrics, and feedback loops.
Agentic AI–Enabled Test Environment Management
  • Design Agentic AI systems that autonomously manage the full lifecycle of test environments:
    • Intelligent provisioning and teardown
    • Environment reuse and scheduling
    • Resource scaling based on test demand
    • Failure detection and self-healing
  • Architect policy-bound autonomous agents that reason over:
    • CI/CD pipeline signals
    • Test execution outcomes
    • Environment telemetry and cost data
  • Ensure AI-driven actions are transparent, auditable, and aligned with enterprise controls.
Test Environment as a Platform Capability
  • Build Test Environment as a Service (TEaaS) as a core IDP offering.
  • Enable on-demand, ephemeral test environments for:
    • Integration and system testing
    • Performance and load testing
    • Security and compliance testing
    • UAT and release validation
  • Drive production-like parity through standardized configurations and templates.
  • Support container-based, VM-based, and hybrid application stacks.
