Job Title: Intern – HR Services (Payroll & Compliance)
Function: GBS HR Services
Location: Gurgaon, India
Duration: 6 Months (May – Nov)
Reporting To: Manager – HR Services
Objective
Gain hands-on experience in payroll operations and statutory compliance within India as part of the HR Shared Services team. This internship offers exposure to payroll processing, regulatory compliance, data validation, and employee lifecycle support, while contributing to process improvements and operational efficiency.
Key Responsibilities
Payroll Operations Support
- Assist in monthly payroll inputs, validations, and reconciliation activities
- Support payroll processing to ensure accuracy, timeliness, and compliance with Indian regulations
- Coordinate with payroll vendors to resolve discrepancies and employee queries
- Validate employee data such as attendance, leave records, and compensation inputs
Compliance & Statutory Support (India)
- Support compliance with Indian labor laws including PF, ESI, PT, TDS, and gratuity
- Assist in preparation and validation of statutory filings and documentation
- Track compliance calendars and ensure timely submissions
- Help maintain records for audits and statutory inspections
Data Management & Quality Assurance
- Perform data validation checks across HR and payroll systems
- Support employee file audits for completeness and statutory compliance
- Ensure accuracy and integrity of payroll-related data
Process Documentation & Improvement
- Update and standardize Desk Top Procedures (DTPs) for payroll and compliance processes
- Identify process gaps and suggest improvements or automation opportunities
- Support implementation of best practices in payroll operations
Service Delivery & Query Management
- Assist in handling employee payroll-related queries via ticketing systems
- Analyze query trends and suggest improvements to reduce recurring issues
- Ensure timely and accurate resolution of employee concerns
Payroll Transition & Projects
- Support payroll transition or migration activities, if applicable
- Track project milestones and flag risks or delays
- Contribute to ongoing HR and payroll improvement initiatives

Eligibility
- Students pursuing a degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Commerce, or related field
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
Must Have
- Strong attention to detail and analytical skills
- Good understanding of basic payroll concepts
- Strong organizational and multitasking abilities
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- High level of confidentiality and integrity
- Proficiency in MS Office (especially Excel)
Good to Have
- Basic knowledge of Indian labor laws and statutory compliance
- Familiarity with HRIS or payroll systems
- Exposure to tools like Power BI, Power Automate, or similar
