Summary:
As a Storage & Virtualization Systems Engineer (m/f/d)
within Global Data Center Operations, you design, operate,
and continuously optimize large-scale, mission-critical
compute and storage platforms across multiple enterprise
data centers. You contribute to global platform
architecture, ensure standardization and resilience, and
support 24x7 enterprise operations in a globally distributed
environment.
Roles & Responsibilities:
Design, operate, and optimize enterprise-scale compute and storage platforms across global data centers and hybrid environments.
- Architect, standardize, and operate VMware-based SDDC platforms including vSphere, vCenter, NSX, and Aria vRealize Operations.
- Manage x86 server platforms (Dell, HPE, Lenovo), including lifecycle management, firmware governance, and capacity planning.
- Design and operate global storage platforms including Brocade SAN, NetApp NAS (MetroCluster, replication, cloning), StorageGRID, and Pure Storage(FlashArray, FlashBlade).
- Define and operate enterprise backup and disaster recovery standards using Commvault Backup.
- Execute global infrastructure initiatives such as data center migrations, platform upgrades, standardization, and legacy decommissioning.
- Drive automation and operational efficiency using scripting, GitLab CI/CD pipelines, and infrastructure-as code.
- Act as escalation point for complex incidents, leading root cause analysis and long-term remediation.
- Collaborate with global network, security, cloud, and application teams to deliver end-to-end infrastructure solutions.
- Create and maintain global architecture documentation, operational standards, and runbooks.
- Participate in on-call and shift-based rotations as part of a 24 7 follow-the-sun operations model.
Professional & Technical Skills:
3+ years of experience in enterprise or global data center
operations.
- Strong expertise in VMware technologies including vSphere, vCenter, NSX, and Aria vRealize Operations.
- Hands-on experience with x86 server infrastructures from Dell, HPE, and Lenovo.
- In-depth knowledge of Brocade SAN fabrics, zoning, and enterprise-scale SAN design.
- Strong experience with NetApp storage solutions including NAS, MetroCluster, replication, and cloning.
- Experience with NetApp StorageGRID and object storage architectures.
- Hands-on experience with Pure Storage platforms including FlashArray and FlashBlade.
- Solid understanding of enterprise backup, recovery, and business continuity using Commvault Backup & Recovery.
- Scripting skills in Python and PowerShell for automation and operational tooling.
- Strong hands-on experience with Ansible for automated configuration management and deployment.
- Experience with GitLab CI/CD pipelines and infrastructure-as-code (IaC) methodologies.
- Strong knowledge of high availability, disaster recovery, and resilience design.
- Ability to work effectively in globally distributed teams with strong communication skills.
- Fluent English communication skills.
