Apt Resources is seeking a knowledgeable and dedicated Herd Manager to lead the herd management operations at a prominent dairy farm in Malaysia.
The Herd Manager will be responsible for overseeing the health, welfare, breeding, and productivity of the dairy herd, ensuring optimal performance and supporting the farm’s overall objectives.
Responsibilities Manage daily herd activities, including feeding, breeding, health monitoring, and calf rearing.
Implement herd health programs in collaboration with veterinarians to prevent diseases and maintain high animal welfare standards.
Develop and maintain breeding schedules and artificial insemination programs to improve herd genetics and productivity.
Monitor milk production and cow performance, diagnosing and addressing issues promptly.
Supervise and train farm staff involved in herd management and related activities.
Maintain accurate records on herd health, breeding, production, and treatments.
Ensure compliance with all safety, hygiene, and animal welfare regulations.
Work closely with farm management to optimize herd-related operational efficiency.
Participate in the purchasing and selection of new livestock as needed to enhance herd quality.
$3000 monthly salary plus additional benefits Bachelor’s degree or diploma in Animal Science, Veterinary Science, Agriculture, or related field preferred.
Minimum of 3-5 years experience managing dairy herds in a commercial farm setting.
Strong understanding of dairy cattle health, nutrition, reproduction, and welfare.
Experience with herd health protocols, artificial insemination, and disease prevention.
Leadership and team management skills with the ability to train and motivate staff.
Excellent record-keeping and organizational abilities.
Good communication and problem-solving skills.
Ability to work flexible hours as farm operations require.
Willingness to relocate to Malaysia and work in a dynamic farming environment.
