This role is part of the global HSBC Asset Management team.

The Role

As Head of Research, Equities (Asset Management India) you’ll oversee HSBC’s equity research function, ensuring high-quality, actionable insights that support investment decision-making and portfolio strategy. Reporting to the Global Head of Research, Equities (Asset Management), the role sets direction across sector coverage, research frameworks and quality standards. You’ll strengthen research governance and ensure work aligns to regulatory and internal requirements. You’ll also develop research talent and build continuity across the team. Success looks like clear alignment to the organisation’s investment philosophy and research that portfolio teams can use with confidence.

What you'll be doing

• Oversee the equity research function, ensuring consistent high-quality output across sectors
• Set research quality standards and review frameworks that support investment decision-making
• Embed research governance, hygiene and compliance with regulatory and internal standards
• Shape sector coverage priorities, investment frameworks and research methodologies aligned to the investment philosophy
• Develop research talent through mentoring, coaching and structured development planning
• Partner with the CIO and portfolio managers to align research priorities with portfolio strategy
• Coordinate with key stakeholders to ensure research outputs support wider business objectives
• Contribute to the global research framework and align local objectives with Global Head of Research priorities

What we're looking for

• Bring substantial fundamental equity research experience gained in buy-side or sell-side environments
• Demonstrate a track record of managing research teams with clear focus on quality and outputs
• Apply deep understanding of equity markets, capital markets and institutional research processes
• Establish and uphold robust research governance with strong attention to regulatory and internal standards
• Communicate complex investment views clearly to senior stakeholders including CIO and portfolio managers
• Partner effectively across functions to agree priorities and deliver aligned research agendas
• Maintain high standards of research discipline, integrity and attention to detail
• Hold CFA designation or equivalent professional certification or bring equivalent demonstrable expertise in investment research
