This is a role within the Castrol organization and the successful candidate will become part of the Castrol ring-fence. If you are part of the ring-fence, it is expected that your employment will move with Castrol to new ownership.


Castrol is seeking a supply chain Network Optimization Lead to join the Product Portfolio Delivery Team to help Castrol optimize its global supply chain and achieve its strategic objectives.


This role will lead a team of network optimization analyst and modeler, primarily bringing thought leadership to increase competitiveness through optionality in portfolio manufacturing locations, evaluating the impact of different sourcing strategies and network design configurations, to optimize the end-to-end supply chain.


The role is reporting to the Industrialization Manager, integrating formulation optimization and portfolio rationalization with network optimization, to enhance Castrol cost-effectiveness across the value chain.


What you will deliver (responsibilities):


  • Lead the Network Optimization Team to continuously evaluating different sourcing strategies and network design, reducing total costs while maintaining or improving quality standards.


  • Provide strategic thought leadership to improve portfolio resilience through creating optionality in manufacturing and supply locations, to service end customers.  


  • Collaborate closely with cross functional team at regional level to implement network optimization solutions for cost savings, including supporting RFQ.


  • Implement automated, data-driven sourcing decisions to optimize manufacturing within our plant network. Use advanced analytics to make informed decisions on sourcing of product and applying broader industrialization policies to increase any market arbitrage opportunities.


  • Identify automation, digitization, and enhanced efficiency opportunities in data quality that underpins network optimization digital tools and software. Utilize a data-driven approach to assess and implement changes, ensuring minimal disruption while improving cost efficiencies.


  • Champion challenging status-quo across the value chain with a constructive and positive attitude to identify solutions and align stakeholders when facing challenges.


  • Work closely with the Industrialization Manager to ensure opportunities outside network optimization activities where investment and cross functional advocacy is required to unlock value, are fed into the Product Portfolio Delivery pipeline of opportunities.


  • Present scenarios and opportunities to senior leaders across different performance units to influence and implement proposed network optimization solutions.


  • Develop a pipeline of network optimization opportunities at regional and across regions level to deliver tactical and sustainable cost savings.


  • Ensure third party sourcing reviews (Make vs Buy tactical) are periodically evaluated across each performance unit.


What you will need to be successful (experience, job requirements & qualifications)


  • Bachelor's degree


  • 10+ year experience, ideally within Lubricants, chemicals or FMCG industries, with a solid track record of delivery.


  • Technical knowledge of lubricant formulations and how to achieve customer and market requirements. Understanding of the "art of the possible" in supply chain management, logistics and operations in a lubricant business or adjacent, with a focus on demonstrating optimization models and tools to deliver value.


  • Previous commercial experience and familiarity of the lubricant value chain or similar, supplier landscape. Experience driving sourcing opportunities.


  • knowledge of the principles of optimization and how optimization is performed using software packages such as Llamasoft, Aimms, Optilogic or similar platforms (or demonstrated ability to quickly learn and apply complex technical skills)


  • Previous experience in managing complex stakeholders map across the globe and different cultural background.


  • Proficiency in data analysis tools and visualization techniques.


  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.


  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
