What You'll Do
The Control Statement &Metrics Data Steward (Director) is the senior data leader responsible for the data logic, metadata, and quality that underpin BCG’s Control Statement (CS) and the firm’s Management Accounting KPIs (such as Net Client Charges, Client Service Margin, Billability, Multiplier, Leverage, PVF, NCC per MD(P)). Control Statement and Management KPIs are integral for managing our firm and driving key decisions.
Reporting to the Finance Data Owner, this role ensures that all CS and KPI data is accurate, consistent, governed, and technically implemented correctly across finance systems (i.e. SAP.), lead-to-cash processes and systems (“ClientView”), BI tools, and global reporting environments.
The Data Steward partners closely with the CS & Metrics Business Process Owner (in the FP&A team), who owns process and metric governance. The Steward provides the data foundation and technical reliability that enable the BPO to execute their governance mandate effectively.
Key Responsibilities
1. Stewardship of the Data Foundations for Management Accounting KPIs
Serve as the senior custodian of the data logic, sourcing rules, and technical calculation specifications for all Management Accounting KPIs reflected in the Control Statement and adjacent reporting. Ensure that KPI definitions are accurately implemented and consistently applied across systems and reporting environments (incl. management of KPI catalogue).
2. Ownership of the Data Logic Behind the Control Statement (CS)
Govern the data flows, mappings, transformations, and calculation logic that generate the CS outputs. Ensure the technical implementation aligns with the BPO-owned conceptual structure and business definitions. Establish a deep understanding of the end-to-end data flow (incl. SAP CS entries) that generate the Control Statement.
3. Lead Data Design for Future Metric & CS Structure Evolution
Act as the Data design and implementation lead for forward-looking changes, including those driven by e.g.:
Translate BPO-directed conceptual decisions into data models, technical specifications, and system-ready logic.
4. Metadata Management (Mappings, Hierarchies, Lineage)
Own and maintain all metadata required for CS and KPI reporting, such as:
Ensure metadata is consistent, auditable, and aligned with enterprise-wide data governance standards.
5. Act as key liaison between FP&A, Global Accounting, Enterprise Data, Finance and BI&A Portfolios
Serve as the senior data representative for CS & Metrics across Enterprise Data, Finance and BI&A teams. Ensure that:
