In This Role, Your Responsibilities Will Be:


You will be responsible for the full project lifecycle, from requirements gathering and concept design to hardware/software engineering, simulation, testing, and commissioning.


Project Engineering:


  • Analyze project inputs from customer meetings, site surveys, and technical documentation.
  • Design and develop generator excitation systems and synchronous motor excitation, including circuit drawings, BOMs, control logic, and system graphics.
  • Engineer protection and synchronizing systems for generators and transformers.
  • Supervise assembly, installation, and testing of excitation systems.
  • Conduct Factory Acceptance Tests (FAT) and Site Acceptance Tests (SAT).
  • Lead system start-up, commissioning, and performance validation at customer sites.
  • Troubleshoot excitation system issues during operation and provide technical support for upgrades.
  • Implement control logic from SAMA diagrams and functional descriptions.
  • Configure and integrate communication protocols (Modbus, OPC, IEC 61850, DNP3).
  • Draft and review system architecture, GA drawings, and network topologies.
  • Ensure compliance with IEEE, IEC, NEC, and regional grid codes.
  • Maintain ISO-compliant Quality & HSE documentation.
  • Collaborate with hardware/software engineering teams and system integrators for timely, high-quality delivery.
  • Prepare site execution plans in coordination with project managers.
  • Lead site teams for excitation system power-up, redundancy checks, and I/O testing.
  • Perform loop checks, device checks, and panel charging.
  • Direct testing and fault diagnosis of excitation system devices (analog/binary).
  • Diagnose faults in excitation systems, controllers, modules, and communication interfaces.
  • Modify logic, graphics, and databases as per customer/site requirements.
  • Provide customer-facing reports and coordinate with vendors during commissioning.

For This Role, You Will Need:


  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in electrical, control & Instrumentation, power engineering.
  • Three (3) to Eight (8) years of experience in generator excitation systems or related electrical engineering fields.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and work under pressure.
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, P&IDs, and technical manuals.
  • Ability to interface with vendors & sub-contractors.
  • Familiarity with industry standards (e.g., NEC, IEEE, IEC, OSHA).
  • Willingness to work in industrial environments and adhere to safety protocols.

Preferred Qualifications that Set You Apart:


  • Deep understanding of generator excitation principles, generator and transformer protection systems.
  • Hands-on experience with FAT/SAT and commissioning of excitation systems.
  • Proficiency in electrical circuit design, control systems, and automation tools.
  • Knowledge of protective relays, AVRs, CTs, VTs, and substation automation.
  • Exposure to renewable energy and grid integration systems.
